Kapex mft question

Are there different sized kapex mfts available?

I recently purchased the kapex with the mft.  (see first picture below)  Take note of the space from the front of the saw base to the front edge of the mft.  I even turn the table around so it has more room.  If the festool branding is facing to the front there is less room.

Now note the picture below from the 2013 catalog.  See how there is several more inches of room?  What gives?  Is this a different mft?  It looks like the same height as the kapex mft, but just deeper.   I had thought before I purchased it (when i saw this in the catalog) i would be able to use this space for coping crown, cutoffs, etc.  Its not really a problem tho, i'm mostly curious.

I had the same question a while back, but don't think I ever got a clear answer.

My set up looks like yours, I have 3.5 inches between the front edge of the saws leg and the front edge of the Kapex/MFT MDF top.

The pictures on pages 45 and 47 in the 2013 catalog sure do look like different MFTs to me.....

There is only on MFT Kapex.  My guess is the photographer didn't bolt it down and scooched it back as far as it would go in order to make room for the kapex accessory shown on the table.

It could also have been a Pre production image.  That has been known to happen from time to time.

Are not the little rubber feet meant to fit in the holes so it doesn't move around and then the bolt hole is lined up

Unless I'm greatly mistaken, it looks like someone used an old photo in the catalogue - that's an MFT 800 judging by the positioning of the saw, the cast corners, and the profile on the rails; it's not a KAPEX MFT.

Yup. No 'V' groove.
