Hello all,

Hoping someone may have already done this.

I have a built in miter bench i made a few years back before i drank the green kool-aid. I'm looking to improve on it by replacing it.

I have a Kapex 120 now; i have about 8feet on the left and the right side of the saw.

Would it be possible to get a Kapex MFT in the middle with the saw on it, then multiple MFT/3's on the left and right side, but attached somehow to the Kapex MFT in the middle? Attaching MFT/3's together is straight forward, but can't find anything about doing that with the Kapex MFT. If I could even find one picture of someone who has done it, i'd feel much more warm and fuzzy, as it would be an expensive experiment =-P

I'd want that for stability and to be able to do repetitive accurate cuts.

I'm leaning toward this, if it makes sense, as having the possibility for it to become mobile if needed would be fantastic.

I'm not sure this can be done (the connecting part anyway) due to the tables being two different working heights. I have both tables and use a similar setup, but just don't connect them with the steel bars. I haven't had much issue myself, but I'm curious as to what other folks have done.

I built my setup after I got my Kapex.  I have base cabinet units with drawers to the left and right with a homemade fence and stop on the left.  The middle shelf is just wide enough to get the Kapex in.  There's a vac below with a vac switch.

My deal is that I do take my Kapex in the field now and then.  Right now it's a bit of a pain.  I have to unscrew the saw and lift it out and it's an ungainly lift.  And then I just lug it around on site.  I have homemade wings that fit in the v-groves and I can set it up clumsily on something when I get there.

What I've been thinking about is getting the UG stand and mounting my Kapex to that permanently.  I'd get rid of my middle shelf, spread the cabinet units out a bit and rig up a sliding platform on the bottom.  I'll roll the setup UG onto the sliding platform (imagine sort of a keyboard pullout thing) and slide it in place and secure it.  Room for the vac below.  And I still have my drawers and stuff on both sides.

Whether I go with the Festool Kapex wings or stick with homemade wings is another decision.  And there are no other options.  It's homemade or Festool wings.  I've shopped and shopped and those are the only options.  The Fastcap Bestfence for Kapex is a pretty good option but if you buy the Festool UG set including wings the Fastcap rig is no savings.  And no commercial option is as lightweight and as quick to set up as all Festool.

If you ever want to take your saw to the work you might consider this option.  You can make sturdy base cabinet style side units with storage below and rig up a nice stop system on both sides and do it for a good deal less than two full size MFT's.

The UG cart is only $65 more than the MFT Kapex.
