Kapex Motor Issue

What symptoms present themselves when the Kapex motor starts to fail. I have started to notice a little slowness in blade speed along with longer times to reach full blade speed.  This could be in my head but it's got me thinking.

Does the motor completely die at once or is it a slow painful death.

Saw is circa 2014 vintage.
 
I think your kapex is about to fail. That's what happened the first time mine went down plus I heard almost like a crunching sound now and then. The other time it was a grinding noise and a poof of smoke, done. Sorry
 
It's been like that for a while but I haven't been using it as much recently. I guess I will just wait and see. New ones still have the same issue and motor?  I love the saw and have invested so much in 210mm saw blades if it dies I may just by another one.
 
The Kapex has a universal motor and so speed control is accomplished by reducing the voltage. If you are perceiving a slowness, it may be worth checking the voltage level on your circuit.

This^^^

The Kapex is like two different saws from 15a to 20a circuit. Sometimes your stuck with a 15a, gotta do what you have to do. It's one of the only things I hate about the Kapex is how fickle it is about needing a 20a circuit.
 
Also, be aware that not all 20 Amp circuits are necessarily true 20 Amp.

We have been asked to work on jobs with temp power boxes that are crappily installed and existing older service panels that are dangerous. 

We will add a damages clause in the contract or not offer a contract at all.  [dead horse]

Best thing to do is, learn about power and how to measure it or stay away from quality power tools.  Yes, I've burnt a Kapex!
 
You do understand breakers do not limit power but cut power off when their respective amperage limit is reached,  a 15 amp breaker does not just limit the draw to 15 amps. So any appliance willnot be different on a 15 amp breaker or 20 amp breaker until it draws too much amps on the 15 amp and trips it.
 
Watts = amps x  volts. So if the voltage drops the device will pull more amps. 
 
Voltage drop on 14 wire on 120 volts drawing a full 15 amps over 50 ft is less than 4 volts. Do not believe me, just do the research.
