Kapex: Resistance when pushing handle down

I have two Kapex's (one with a recent armature replacement that works perfectly and another that has never been repaired). The latter one has developed a strong resistance to being pushed down to start a cut. It will go, but it takes a significant amount of force that is substantially more than the other saw.

I had the same issue. For me the guard would start hanging up shortly thereafter.

Pull the blade then remove the "clamping flange" as Festool calls it immediately behind it, and blow out that area. The guard hub starts to build up dust in there and creates a tension chain reaction all the way up the machine.

I have found that since I found a local place to get blades sharpened, I swap them out more often and blow out that area every time I do. Haven't had the problem since.

I jinxed myself with that last post!

Lubed the roller (called a roller because it's not a ball bearing!) under the blade guard arm and viola! like new.

After extensive use, the stamped metal arm that rides on the bearing can eventually deform, which can lead to resistance when descending into a cut. I ordered parts and tried to perform the repair myself, ultimately sent in to Festool for them to repair. After replacing the part, saw worked like new.
