Kapex See-saws when on MTF table

hi brett, thanks for bringing this issue to our attention.
i have never seen this problem before.
your video speaks a thousand words.

i am glad you have contacted festool.

maybe the service is different here in oz.
in the past, i have called my local dealer and told him i cannot come to the dealer shop. too busy working!
so the dealer got my site address and 2 hours later the festool rep was at the site looking to pick up the tool.

great service and one of the reasons i choose festool over other brands.

i hope you get a new saw, as that one looks a bit bent!

regards, justin.

Well the service does sound better over where you are than in the UK but the company Fein as you may also know went round my mates house and picked up the faulty Multi master so I am hoping festool will do the same as my dealer is about 1hour and 40 mins away from me so dont really want to travel nor do I want to post it. My dealer is very good though i think well for UK any way but its festools fault not his. He did talk to a festool reb the other day and they told him they will call me too day and I have not recieved a call so I will be contacting him tomoro..

Brett,

FESTOOL should send (via DHL or FedEx) a special box that you put the Kapex in. The will take it away, look at it. They then decided weather to fix/replace.

I have just had one returned that had the same problem. PM me if you want more details and I'll give you my Tel No.

Paul.

Got mine out of the box... Shows a manufacture date of 2008... Surely they made some of these this year or does Tooltechnic have a rather large supply !?!

Anyhow... I've put it onto a table, seems perfect. The top plate all lines up - and as such the saw is not on the piss...

I will place it on my MFT/3 tomorrow... and see how it cuts and if the lasers are correct - if not I will adjust.

Paul.

Well Festool still have not contacted me my retailer has called few times and left messages on his phone so so far not looking good. I am not having it fixed so they will just replace is because I have recieved the item and not even used it or n e thing litterly put it onto the bench and noticed it was bent.  So I will want my money back straight away if they fix it and I will never EVER buy festool again and will but it all over the internet how bad their service is and tell all my work collage and they all ask me for advice on tools and computers so they will listen. Because I am not happy at the moment with this service. As you all mite know I didnt have much luck with my festool Drill when it first came out in the UK. Look my name up and you will see a thread about my drill experience.

thank any for you help if I need it I will ask you thank you very much.

Brett,

Firstly, try to resist venting your rage on Tooltechnic (FESTOOL UK) before you know why.

We all have problems with tool suppliers from time to time - me included and yes, with FESTOOL too.

If I have a problem I usually ignore the dealer and go straight to ToolTechnic and have found them very helpful. They tend (alas) to seem to respond better to a customer than a dealer. Right or wrong - suppose a different debate.

With what you've said, I'd say just return it to the dealer and get your money back and let them worry about FESTOOL. As it's not fit for purpose. However... try to determine WHY you think it wobbles - make sure the top plate is stuffed - mine was. After they got it back, another was sent to me the following day.

I kept the wings that I got for free and the angle tool and a few other things - as I was not supposed to return in the packaging... So, these will go onto ebay shortly and I should get ?100 - ?150 for the lot - which will mean my saw turns out cheaper.

I've had another problem with this saw which I got fixed...

Once back, once working, it's a lovely saw...

But I do understand your frustration. however, I do find I can do things with FESTOOL gear I would find much harder with other tools... Try not to bite your nose off to spite your face - I've done it before and it's not worth it... Just get them to bung some free stuff in for yourself :-)

Brett I have PM'd you with direct email addresses, they are nice people and were very helpful to me.

I know I do understand its just I dont want the same situation with my drill  where I got a brand new tool repaired it is not fair at all. Just get me a bit mad I normal calm down when I am properly sorted out and get good service eventually. I do agree the circular saw is brilliant and so is the drill other tools I own of festool are also very good but they all can be replaced by other brands. Even the circular saw can be replaced because makita make the same saw and dewalt do and Maffel have a brilliant set up with other handy features like the flexi guide and the spring loaded guide looks good so festool isnt the only one.

Thanks

Brett

You are welcome.

If Festool made telephone systems then Festool UK's current phone system would be scrapped and we might actually talk to a human. [eek]

Mmmm.. Yes, their answering machine system... I got a little frustrated last Friday attempting to get hold of them... At 4:00pm Marketing, Sales and Service were all... err... Busy...

Well, at least it was not Ideal Standard who's service team implied I had stolen forged goods before someone admitted a manufacturing fault - that one REALLY got my blood boiling...

My favourite was Marks and Spencer who would not let me use an English Money Voucher in an irish store, but would let me use English money... I don't care what the reason is, but in the past 15 years I've never bought a thing from them again !!

Oh... This is all getting me angry now :-)

P-D-T Chill my friend, grab a cold one and relax. i'm on about no.6 as I had to return some windows that were wrong size, custom made, and I'm the one facing the client, me ! on this one I'm just the fitter. Then I get told that I have still got to get them installed on time, I think I shall be withdrawing my labour and writing it off.

Am interested in Brett's kapex situation as have been setting aside some funds for the complete bundle and hoping to get it before the VAT rise.
Rob.

Rob....

Oddly enough i had to return some incorrect size double glazed units today too !! At least they were not custom made...

Beer always solves the problem !! For a while ...

The problem only comes back if you stop drinking ;D ;D

Hope Brett has had some luck today, he copied a nice email that he sent Festool UK to me, I would be surprised if they did not reply today.

Let us know Brett, either way.
Regards Rob.

Alrite!    I have calmed down now any way and feel alot happier. I have spoken to my local rep to day about 4 oclock he was very sorry and said he will sort it out straight away he has seen this forums video of te chop saw and says that the chop saw should be sitting flat and something is wrong. He said he has not had this type of fault befor. Any way he said I had to options

1. He gets me a new base for the chop saw and ill have it working befor christmas

2. They give me a brand new one but he thinks I wont get it befor Christmas.

Now I am the type to feel if 1 thing is wrong the entire thing is wrong lol So I have gone for option 2

He said he will be giving me a extra blade with it free to make up for it.

So I take it all back and I am happy with the service.

Thank you for you help everyone who helped me any away.

Great news Brett.
Once you get to talk to them it all goes well, it's just getting hold of them that aggravates people.
Maybe one of Festool Uk's people could let us know A) why this is, B) if there are plans cunningly afoot to resolve it?
Regards Rob.

I have finaly recieved my replacment Kapex saw this week. I have had a good look at it to day and placed it on my MFT table straight away and it sits perfectly flat no see-sawing at all. I can not find any problems with it at all so I am happy. I am recieving a free-bie for my inconvenience I asked for a aluminium cutting blade for the saw and he said he will get me one. Could of got a guide rail or any blade I wanted maybe something els he just asked what I wanted really he said I rather give you something you need then just give you something random free. So I am very pleased and forgiven them for taken so long to replace my kapex.

I did notice two things with this new Kapex. It came with a CD IPT (Interactive Product Tour) on it and also I noticed one important thing the blade which is already installed on the kapex is a much better blade than the kapex I had recieved before. So I think I recieved a old stock kapex or they have just recently upgraded the blade and giving CDS with it.  I also notice with this new kapex when moving it to 45 with the turning th handle its smoother as the one I had befor made a bit of a grinding noise.

[big grin]!!!!!!!!!ALRITE!!!!!!!!!!! [big grin]

I Recieved my aluminium blade today! It arrived very quick I think seen as I only spoke to him wed last week.  I also recieved a letter with the blade sayin in short basicaly sorry and as promised a FOC blade as a good will gesture.

Also what pleased me the most is that UK festool Sales managers are reading this forum meaing they do care about how their customers feel.

Which is a good! I am happy its all sorted and I am pleased with the customer service. I must admit that it was christmas time which did prolong everything as you all know thats what allways happens at christmas time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Glad it all worked out and you're going to enjoy the aluminum blade. I was surprised how much I use mine.
