Hi Guys

I have just bought a Kapex KS 120 and set it all up today.  Everything is fine, except I can't get the 'Special Blade Position' to engage.  When I pull the green lever to swing down the arm that fixes to the slider, it stops at about 20 degrees.  It feels like it's a positive stop, not like something is jammed.  I'm assuming something needs to be unlocked or positioned to get it to work, but I couldn't work it out.

Any help appreciated.

Is there a chance that you are moving the green trenching control on the right of the motor unit? That has a positive stop similar to your description.

Mine does the same, i just can't be bothered with the hassle of getting it repaired. I just bend it down when i need to use it..

To be honest there are loads of things I'm not happy with the Kapex, the problem you are talking about, the base grinds when changing the angle, after doing a cut the saw does not rise back up, the lasers were off from new ..Basically not worth the money..
After the problems i had sending a carvex back i just can't be bothered trying again..

Neth, where are you based?  If the Kapex is still in warranty then you should send it back.  My experience of the Kapex has been good so far.  I've never had a Kapex back.

If you are local, or I can help, let me know.

I had the same problem when I got my kapex. The solution was to make sure that the saw was on "0" bevel, then the special position latch clicks right in. I've used a lot of saws in my work, the kapex is by far and away the best of the bunch.

As for the saw not poping back up, its friction on the spring as the coils twist, a tiny squirt of lube will cure it.

Just noticed its my 88th post, go Dale Jr

Hello DoGooder! As mentioned above bevel at Zero degrees. Now look at the left rear of the saw. There is a green lever which is used to set the special cutting position. Move the saw away from the green lever to where you can see other part of the actuator. Rotate the lever downward towards the table on the Kapex. Now after the lever has been fully rotated slide the Kapex backwards and you should hear the actuator click into place. Now the saw should not move forwards or towards the back. To disengage there is a small green release tab on the side of the Kapex. Push downwards on this tab and pull the saw away from the back and as you pull the actuator will pop out of the Kapex saw body and spring back to the normal cutting position. Try this out and I think you will be reassured. I have had my Kapex for over one year now and still continue to be impressed with its smoothness and accuracy. I at first thought I was foolish to spend that much money on one saw! But I am now STILL happy that I did!

Saw moved towards rear to engage the special cutting position actuator. Please excuse the lack of a decent close up lens.
Also note the release button visible in the same photo in line with the captured actuator lever.

I hope this helps to clarify the operation of this feature.

Wow thanks for all the replies.  Very grateful.

Just went out and it was indeed off vertical by a couple of degrees!  Knew it would be something simple.

Thanks again

Hi
All of the above is why i have Festool and the Kapex is festastic! Only issue i had was the laser off on arrival but a quick true up sorted that. Oh, also dropped from a van but lucky on landing as sand base was laid, quick blow with a compressor and done.
