I noticed the pic at the top of the page today, it was of the Kapex on a nice looking stand with "wings" attached to the fence with stops attached to it.  Where can I buy this?  I looked on the Festool site and in my catalog but I cant find it?

These are the Festool Table Extensions (KA-KS 120, Order No 494354) that are not yet available in the USA. They attach to the Kapex using the table wideners in the Crown Moulding Stop Kit (AB-KS 120, Order No 494369).

In the UK and other markets, you can buy the Table Extensions separately, or two of them (identical but can be configured for mounting on left or right of the saw) with the Kapex as a set. The 110V version of this set is designated KS 120 EB GB 110V-Set (Order No 561292), and this comprises:

HW universal saw blade Z 60
bevel
workpiece clamp
multifunction table MFT 800 Basic
2 x table extensions
2 x crown moulding stops
clamping set
operating tool

As Brice says, although Festool has released the Kapex in the USA, it hasn't yet released the Extension Tables to go with it.

If you use the Festool Owners Group search function to look for the words Kapex Extension, you will find quite a lot of threads where people have discussed the official Festool extensions, and come up with home-built or third-party alternatives.

For photos of the Kapex using the KA-KS120 Extension, see the UK Kapex brochure athttp://www.festool.co.uk/images/gb_downloads/brochure_kapex.pdf

I think this is the reason festool wants those pictures changed (being contacted about the kapex extension wings).

I have the set version of the kapex, and I like those things, but if anyone is considering getting them, I would advise to order an extra pair of support brackets (and maybe the black things that go on top, if you use tall stock; but those would get in the way of the stop flags).
Since the extensions are only attached to the crownstops with 1 bolt, they get knocked out of allignment pretty easy (but are corrected just as easily).

I leave the legs at the end of the fixed part of the wing, and have one of the support brackets in between the bracket of the legs and the crownstops, the other one at the extending part. I don't like the way you have to set up the legs, and by leaving them on the fixed part of the rail, you don't have to move them when you alter the length of the extensions.

The thing I like most about the things is the system part, they have a groove in the back aswell, with which you can attach them to the CS fence so they can also be used with the CS saws and the mft3. (allthough it fits the CMS; it would be pretty useless, since they don't have the pull saw functionality)

Most carpenters in the US prefer continuous supports, I guess that's why they don't sell the things there.

BTW, Forrest, do they actually have different productnumbers for the 110V and the 220V versions?  ???

:D  Member of the public to Festool USA Sales: "What do you mean the extensions aren't available in the USA? Of course they are - there's a picture of them at the top of the FOG page."

Yes, there are four Kapex Order numbers:

Set, including Saw, Extensions and MFT:
Sliding compound mitre saw KS 120 EB Set GB 240V Order number: 561291
Sliding compound mitre saw KS 120 EB Set GB 110V Order number: 561292

Just the saw:
Sliding compound mitre saw KS 120 EB GB 240V Order number: 561285
Sliding compound mitre saw KS 120 EB GB 110V Order number: 561286

Ok, the set includes the kapex itself...  (I'm tired; I actually thought they gave the extension wings different numbers depending on which saw they're used with ::))
