Hey there.
Anyone have this issue? Mine is only 6 months old and it won't snap back into position after I make a cut. Not a big deal, but it sort of gets in the way. Plus, knowing that it shouldn't do this, it's bothersome.
Thank you for your feedback.
Jon

Any chance the pin that holds the arm down when not in use is not fully pulled out? Maybe it's just about engaged and when you plunge, it grabs?

It's (W) "Head Lock Knob", which sounds more professional-wrestling related if you ask me :)

Jon,

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Kapex. Please discontinue using it until this issue is resolved. I would recommend contacting our service department for assistance. Their number is below in my signature as well as on your Kapex's label, M-F, 8am-5pm. It's possible that sawdust has caked up the roller that's part of the saw's plunge mechanism and that's what's preventing it from returning to its normal position. Service may be able to instruct you how to clean it if that's the case. If not, they can help make arrangements to get it in for repair.

If there's sawdust caked up you would be able to just blow it out with compressed air.

The problem has always been the spring is wrapped around (placed over) a plastic tube and the friction between the plastic and spring becomes too great.  Just lube the spring and you'll see it popping back into position like new (or better).

Fellas. Thanks for everyone's input. I love the saw, just a nuisance and I keep bumping my hand or material into the saw head, and it also blocks your line of sight, when setting up for the next maneuver.
I'll be calling service to see what they think, as Shane recommends.

Welcome to the FOG!  I am not trying to go counter to what you heard when you called Festool at all when I suggest that you find the the main pivot point of the saw and spray a non WD40 product in the joint, but that worked for me. Lubrication is a user thing.

Worst thing that happens is that it doesn't solve the issue and then you send it in.

Peter
