Kapex tolerances

Not sure if this should be posted here or in the tool problems area and not sure if I even have a problem. I took the plunge and bought the kapex. My old dewalt stopped working and thus started the qwest for a new saw. After reading numerous reviews and trying out a hitachi whose miter was very much out of square with no way to adjust, I finally decided on the kapex because I want to be able to count on precision and reliability.

So, the saw just arrived earlier in the week and I just today got the time to unbox and use it. I was very anxious to check it out and see what kind of precision it had right out of the box with no adjustment. Here's what I found:

-the inner edges of the fixed table "wings" are about 0.002-3 lower than the outer edges. That is, if I lay a straight edge across the whole table, both fixed portions of the table have a slight angle towards the inner rotating part of the table. I don't think this will be a problem beacause the material will always extend onto the center table which is level with the outer edge of the fixed tables.

- the fence has 0.003-4 gap as you move inwards towards the blade. This seems like it could be a problem when cutting material that doesn't span both sides if the fence.

-cut 2 pieces of straight MDF standing up with bevel at locked 0 and 90 bevel is dead on.
-do the same laying flat and miter 90 is dead on
-checking 45 miter buy cutting two sides of short stock. Angles are dead on checked against my woodpecker square
- left bevel checked same way and 45 is dead on
-right bevel checked and about 1/32 gap at outside corner. I might be doing something wrong.

Would the above mentioned out of straight measurements be within expected tolerance? I was hoping there would be no measurable gaps (was just using a feeler gauge). Also, for the bevel, should I take the time to run the 4 cut method explained in the supplemental manual, or should I assume I was doing something wrong on the right bevel  since all the others were good?

Joel, I don't think you have a problem with your saw.  The numbers you are talking about with the fence/base I'd say is within normal tolerances, assuming you are referring to inches.  We're talking about discrepancies about the thickness of a piece of paper.  The 1/32" gap on the miter could easily been from normal deflection or frankly, user error is more likely.  Please don't be offended, I'm not suggesting you don't know how to use your tools, it just easy to push the saw in a way that slightly effects the cut.  Remember miter saws are meant to be light weight to transport them, and there are a lot of moving parts.  Deflection is part of the game, managing the deflection with good technique is the key.  This is true with all miter saws not just the Kapex.  I know the Kapex costs a lot of money, but don't expect it to be utter perfection in every single way or you'll never be able to appreciate just how good of a saw it really is.
