Today I decided to put a 5 gallon bucket under my stand to toss scraps into. Being right handed, after about the 4th time I whacked my hand on the diagonal brace, I moved the bucket to elsewhere.

So then I got to wondering why is that even in the front? Seems silly to me.
Checking images from various places and I am sure i followed the destruction manual when I first assembled the stand, that seems to be the way.

Has anyone mounted the saw to the stand the "other way" so that the diagonal brace would be in the back?
Pros? Cons?

I've never tried mounting the saw facing the back. The only problems I can think of off the top of my head is that it might not fold down fully if something on the back of the saw interferes with the brace. The weight might also be off balance if the center of gravity changes but I doubt that would be much of an issue since it changes when the saw is used. Try it and see if it works.

I keep a rubbermaid bin under mine for scraps and have never once hit my hand on the diagonal brace, but then again, I'm left handed.

It's been a while since I mounted mine, so I can't fully remember how saw attaches to the stand; are the mounts even symmetrical to allow for this?

You should be able to mount the plastic brackets that attach to the saw/stand backwards, but they are keyed by a steel disk welded to the stand itself so you cant just spin the saw and the brackets. I inadvertently installed one backwards last weekend for a deck build. My saw is usually in the shop on a home built miter station.
