The turret on mine was a heavy 1mm (little over .041") lower than the side tables. Contrary to the Festool fanclub position, this DOES create accuracy issues when cutting things that 'balance' on that high edge. There is a reason every other manufacturer machines the surface of their tables. Sure, if I was cutting $3 2x4's all day long it wouldn't really matter much, but when making cuts to the 1/64" in $200 sticks of pre-finished crown moulding, it matters a lot. "Floating" and "self leveling" are expensive sounding catch phrases to make you think you're paying for something you're not. You're actually paying more for an item tha required fewer manufacturing steps than the competition.
Don't get me wrong though, I love the saw. It took two trips back to them to make it right, but they did make it right. That is something you won't find from the competition. The saw might not be perfect, but nothing really ever is. I just expect a certain level of quality, and the customer service at festool stood up and met my expectations. Is it overpriced? Hell yes, it certainly is, but there are tons of things in life that are overpriced (those expensive cars still do exactly the same thing as the cheap ones). I happened to be in a place to afford one, so I did. I don't regret spending the $$$, every time I take that saw out I'm glad I purchased it.
