Hi. New to this forum. Found it via LinkedIn.
I have owned a kapex for 6 years or so. It has burned up on me twice. Once under warranty and second time I put up such a stink with Festool that they gifted me $400 in parts and only charged me the labor for the repair.
Festool has the hands down best service of any other tool manufacturer.
I had my saw back in a week and so far it has worked fine.
Analyzing my issues with the saw I determined that both times it failed it was due to a power issue.
Seems that an underpowered kapex will cook very quickly so be sure that the source of your juice is clean and you have full voltage at the spot you plug in the saw.
Do not use an undersized power cord or one that is too long. Voltage drop seem to be the cause of my saw burning up on both occasions.
Despite the problems with the motor this saw remains the most accurate miter saw I have owned in 35 years as a professional carpenter.
