Kapex work support?

Admittedly I haven't read all there is to read on this new saw, but I have one big question.  Does Festool have any work support system planned for this tool?  I understand the saw has studs on the bottom to fit into the holes on an MFT but what about holding up the sixteen foot floppy-a#$ mdf crown I'm sometimes forced to hang?  Now my DW saw fits perfectly on my DW stand.  I know the AD&E stands are better, but I don't trim 100% of the time so the mobility, small footprint and affordable price make the DW stand attractive to me.  Will the Kapex  fit onto aftermarket stands or will FT have another ingenious(pricey) solution?  Thanks for the help.

  Festool does have its own support system, the MFT800 and extension wings. Now the MFT's are being discontinued, who knows, I'm sure they will work it out. AD&E are now "Sawhelper", they are looking into fitting their stand to the Kapex, they should have plenty of time before the saw hits the US.
 
  Of course you could always make your own stand.

The extension wings are similar to an older BASIS version, but with longer legs. The wings join to the sides of the saw or crown molding stop wings, and not the MFT itself, the legs have some height adjustability, so they should work fine with MFT3 if it is a bit higher.

As Brice rightly says, Festool currently supply a basic MFT800 and some extension rails for workpiece support. Here is what you get with the "KS 120 EB Set GB 240V, Order No 561291" in the UK, although there's no guarantee that this is the package that will be available in the USA when the Kapex arrives.

Items included in addition to the saw are:
- HW universal saw blade W60
- bevel
- workpiece clamp
- multifunction table MFT 800 Basic
- clamping set
- 2 x table extension
- 2 x crown moulding stop
- operation tool

Rather than giving the cost in pounds, a better idea might be to say that in the UK the Kapex set (illustrated above) costs 1.64 times the cost of the basic Kapex. Also that the basic Kapex costs 1.53 times a basic Domino (incl Systainer but no cross-stops or tenons), or 2.17 times an MFT1080 set (incl angle stop, guide rail etc).

You like that big ol clumsy stand.  I'm shocked!  It doesn't store compact, it's goofy to open/close...  and kinda like you stated, you bolt your saw to it and then it's not that quick and easy to use your saw other ways.  Doesn't seem like it would be easy to get that thing up/down stairs either.  I have 2 of the DW723's and although they could use a little improvement I clip my miter saw stand on one and my cutting platform on the other.  They aren't too heavy and fold up very compact.  They are the best stand I've been able to fiddle with so far.  Since we also install for Lowes, I'm not keen on having any of those Orange tools anyway.  Lowes has/had the DW723 priced at $149.  If I get the Kapex I think it will be right at home on the 723...

I also have the original Saw helper stand, and a Milwaukee saw horse rig.

Truthfully, I really need to have that baby in my hot little hands to do some

contemplating.

I can't really see ever trying to lug an MFT around.  I don't do a lot of on site glue ups and stuff like you and others on here do.  I (shame on me) haven't even purchased an MFT yet although I have sure thought about it over and over.  It really did seem like a quality piece although at that size and weight it seems hardly portable.  I need a small light weight table that I can roll around (2 wheels and 2 legs) to keep small tools and parts on.  It would have to be lipped to minimize things falling off.  I would love to not have to ever set anything on the floor.  When I'm working in a house I have to move around a lot working on electrical circuits and lighting, plumbing etc.  I need to be able to roll out and roll up quickly.  I HATE that function and it doesn't pay anything so I really want to minimize it...

Take a 1/2" sheet of MDF, box it on the bottom to fit over the systainer, lip it, your in.

Those dollys are really, really useful. Great for moving tools to the vehicle, to the job, I've used them to move furniture out of a room.

If you're looking for a good work support for the Kapex, I'd look into the Sawhelper Ultrafence. It's an awesome system! Right now I've got a sawhelper hooked up to my 12" Makita SCMS, I can't wait to switch to a Kapex. In the interest of full-disclosure, I'm the guy in the video giving the stuttering testimonial, but I certainly don't work for the company, I just think it's an awesome product.

My biggest complaint with the new style DeWalt stand, heck, even the new Festool system they have for the Kapex, is that you don't get full, continuous support of your lumber, which is especially important when you're cutting MDF, Trex, and other "spaghetti-board" materials. Plus, the flip-stop is really nice for making face frames. I hope this help!!
