I am in desperate need of a sliding chop saw.  Does anyone know when the kapex will be released in the US?  I don't want to buy some other brand but I may have no choice if it is not released soon.

Please help.

What do you mean by soon?

We will usually know a couple of months in advance about new introductions such as the Kapex.

Maybe you can borrow one in the time being.

sbnx,
Welcome to the group.

Your question is one that many of us are asking!  There is a lot of interest in when the Kapex will be introduced in North America.

I'm sure Festool would love to begin selling the saw here, but, as with all new tool introductions, there is a lengthy process of making that happen.

If you want to read up on all the discussions we've had on the Kapex, check out the links below (just be prepared for the NAINA sensations):http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=158.0http://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=821.0

Feel free to jump into those discussions.

Stay in touch,
Matthew

I hate to always preface my answer with "hopefully", but hopefully looks to be the 1st quarter 08.

Bob

Bob,

1.  How about the last quarter of 07, just so we can get all those ONA's to take their torture to another level with another soon-to-be-announced everywhere but INA tool!!!!!!!

2.  Why is Dan ahead of me on the wait list?

::)

Dave,

It's easy to be number one the Kapex list.  A few weeks after the news about the Kapex started spreading around, I asked Bob if he has a waiting list for the Kapex.   He responded, "No, not yet."   I said, "Well set one up and put me on it!"   (That was MONTHS ago!)  ;D

Dan.

The way my life's been flying by lately it'll be April 1st before I know it.  Since Bob said 1st quarter that's my entry date in the pool.

Wouldn't think they would try that again...  must have been hectic around the warehouse with the release of the Domion and the annual price increase coming at the same time.  No, I would hope it would arrive sometime a little sooner -- oh, my date on the pool would be February 25th.  That ought let a little of the dust settle...

Hey Matthew,

Since an impromptu pool has popped up, how about getting Festool to give away a kapex to whoever comes closest on the date when Bob or Festool actually has stock on hand for NA?  After all, we deserve a little compensation for the taunting we have received from our friends in more-advantaged lands -- it's the American way after all (somebody has to pay).

Dave

Mr. Work must have one by now? Bob, Per? I mean these guys had Domino's before anyone, could this be the reason Per has not posted lately? fear of a leak?
Anyone in Oregon  feel like taking a stroll around Mr. Works shop? Lets get the Kapex radar going, Terminator style!

Its possible Festool tests all NorthAmerican tools in Arctic Canada, the project is managed by Hafele. ;) The bitter cold, and NO customers :D (except for Dan Clarmont) would keep it pretty tight lipped ;D

I'm on the look out!

Dammit Mirko, You figured it out.

I disguised my KAPEX as a Makita LS1013 so know one would know till I was done testing it.

Dan, does it have a remote startup and how does it cope cutting through the fur muffler?

Seriously though, recent intelligence gleaned from other forums suggest that Rick Christofferson may be in possession of one. But I could, ah say ah could be wrong.

Rob

I very much like Dave Rudy's idea and thinking. I will enter the pool with a date of February 7 because it is my birthday.  ;D :D ;) Also, I am MORE than willing to become an early tester of the Kapex and write a Jerry Work like report in exchange. ::) Fred

Must have been pretty hard to do even with someone of your advanced border crossing skills.  :) :)

Yeah well that machine that looked like a Domino I brought to your house that day, not real, its a fake. Its really a new Rigid dressed up like a Domino, its quite a groundbreaking machine actually :D I'm testing it for Home Dumpo ;D They told me to keep tight lipped about anything to do with reverse engineering ;)
