Thought I would share my latest Festool built project.  I designed and built this Kids Book rack for my Niece and Nephew.

Nice project.  What Festools did you use in the project?

Very nice project indeed.  This would make a great Christmas project for a young person in your life.  You may have inspired me to do something similar for my nephew and niece.  I'll just need to find a way to get to them  [smile]  I think we would all appreciate more details.

Lacking a table saw I used my TS55 for all of the cutting and DTS 400 for all of the sanding.  The routing was done with a old Ryobi router, soon to be replaced with 1400EQ router.  I designed it in Sketch-up and then built templates for the ends and shelf spacing to get the angle right.  It was designed to fit into a specific area, so the dimensioning was important.

The wood I used is Aspen with a clear poly.  Aspen is soft, but I love the light color of it and with about 4 coats of poly does harden up a bit.

Glad you liked it, it was fun to design and build.

As someone who has an old Ryobi router - vintage 1986 - welcome to the space age!! [big grin] [big grin]

Beautiful work.  What are you going to do next now that the blood is flowing?

Here are some additional pictures.  I am not yet sure what my next project will be, I have been working on some kid sized chairs for my daughters room, but a new built-in cabinet might be first.

I have also been asked by a couple of people to build a similar book rack for their kids...so we will see.

Here are some additional details:

1. The ends were cut with a jigsaw and then trued up with my router.  I then used my first end as a template for the others. I did put edgebanding to clean up the look.  I cut it think to prevent it from chipping easily.
2. The base is 3/4" birch plywood with 1 3/4 Aspen edging.  I wanted the base to be heavy to prevent any possibility of it tipping over.
3. I used pocket screws to assemble the whole unit.  Simple and solid.

nice work.  you could make some up and sell them to doctors offices .
