My mother in law wanted to refresh her 80's dark oak cabinets. Late last year I made some shaker style doors and put some Blum soft close hinges in them. Last week I finished up a good chunk of the BB drawers, put some Zar Ultra Max on them (the stuff is awesome!) and setup the Blum undermount soft close slides. I made some poplar slabs and got them installed yesterday. They need some paint but she is very happy so far.

Bank of 3 drawers:

⅝" BB drawers, finished and branded:

Really wide drawers under oven. This was just dead space before:

Drawers and doors have a nice clean fit (10mm spacing):

More to come as I wrap things up. Thanks for looking.

Cheers. Bryan.

Thanks Bill.

Yes indeed, the BB is dovetailed. Some folks don't like that look but I do and when I showed it to my MIL, she said she really liked the subtle contrast. "It adds character" she said.  This is before I sanded the outsides and sealed them.

Bryan,

Gotta keep the MIL happy, LOL!

As usual your work is outstanding.  Nice look with the 10mm spacing!  Drawers should be plenty sturdy with the 5/8" BB.  Where did you source that?  I needed some for a project and had to do a special order from a lumberyard.

Thanks, Mike A.

Thanks Mike!

I had to order the sheets from a place nearby. I found out that 16mm ply was pretty rare. It actually ended up being 15mm when it came so I needed to remove a few mm from the face frames to make them fit. So much for careful planning!!

I really like the 10mm spacing. Very cool shadows show with the 18mm painted maple doors, and now that the drawers are going in, it looks great. I hope to wrap up in the coming weeks and do a full write up here.

Cheers. Bryan.

Hey Bill.

I used my Incra LS setup. I had some tearout on the pins but they are half blind so it didn't matter as they were getting covered up with glue and tails.

Cheers. Bryan.

I think the 16 mm is more or less an upsize for 15 mm with hpl or veneer added. Same goes for the 19 (18 plus extra layer).

Kitchen looks great.

I dovetail nominally 1/2 bb plywood on my HF dovetail jig with a Grizzly finger template for 7/8 spacing.  To keep the splintering manageable I back cut it.  I've built drawers for several dressers and a kitchen island this way.  Really ice not to have to glue up drawer stock.
