A quick heads up that we now have KN95 face masks in stock. It's been quite the past couple of months and masks have been impossible to find anywhere, as I'm sure you all know. KN95 has been deemed an approved equivalent standard by the CDC and FDA and is comparable to the N95 standard, both requiring a minimum filtration level of 95% at 0.3 micron. These are in stock, ready to ship today. Available in single, ten and twenty packs.

Is it possible that posts of non-Festool products can be accessible for us “foreigners”..? [smile]
As far as I understand, the block is to prevent a look into pricing of Festool in the US (it is quite obvious anyhow). As of having an interest of what products that moves in this industry, it would be nice to at least see and read. Then there might at least be an opportunity to check availability in Europe, if one found interest in a product you or other dealers post here..

Hi!

Just posting to let you know that there is no block. I can see all offerings on toolnut.com including Festool. As you know, I'm in Europe as well.

(And I'm not using any mad-skills-internet-hacking-magic here. ;) )

.. Hmm, and I know of one other that get this block message. I’ve always had it, from the first time I ever clicked on one of “Shane’s” links. Any other works as it should, but not Shane’s links. Or even when trying to enter web page manually, same message.

[member=71478]FestitaMakool[/member] the majority of countries outside of the U.S. are blocked from accessing our website. It's to keep "bad actors" away and to prevent the many inquiries we used to get asking if we ship abroad. Sorry, nothing personal at all.

[member=1674]Peter Halle[/member], good for you, brother. I've done the same and donated essentials to other families that are struggling when we've had extra supplies since this thing started.
 
Just a couple of things on the KN95.  I enclosed 3 pictures.  One is the KN95.  One is of the 3M N95 that used to be available at stores that had woodworking supplies.  The other is what I think is the best N95 that comes in different sizes and can be fitted.  The one shown is the regular size.

The way an N95 is fitted is for a testing where what seems to be the best size mask is worn, with the nose part forming a nice seal along with the rest of the mask, a hood is placed over your head, and something is sprayed and you see if you can smell it or not.

The effectiveness of an N95 compared to a regular mask is related to the mask design but also the fit.  The KN95s to not often fit so well.  If you wear it and find it super easy to inhale, likely not a great fit.  Just saying that protection has to do with the mask type AND the fit

Just info, not intended to be expert advice on the internet.  Anyhow,  it is great that these K95 masks are now available.

The 3M 8511 pictured above is the nicest to wear because the exhale valve will reduce the likelihood of fogging your eyeglasses but it isn’t good to wear around other people unless you are certain that you are not a carrier. The exhale valve will allow the bad stuff to get out.

Thanks Michael, I agree that even though they are less comfortable we should be using the non-vented masks out in public. Save the vented pieces for use in the shop.

While your point is fundamentally true the exhaust ports on the 8511 mask are directed straight downward and provide a much narrower radius of breath dispersion than no mask at all.  N95s are primarily designed to protect the wearer but do significantly reduce the probability of transmission if the wearer is infected.
 
Just a quick update that we sold out of our initial shipment of masks very quickly.

We expect more KN95 masks to be delivered on Monday. The second batch is from a different vendor and only available in 20-packs.

You are right Martin.  This particular style KN95 are not equivalent to proper N95 masks.  The main issue with these masks are the straps go around the ears and will not make a proper seal around the face.  While these masks may be better than the inexpensive surgical masks, they are not going to give you the listed filtration level of 95% at 0.3 micron since the seal will be relatively poor.

This isn't meant as an attack on Toolnut.  They are offering the best product that they can make available given the current circumstances.  BTW, I'd gladly take one of these masks over no mask at all. 
 
Masks, N95 or not, are useless unless people use them. Depending on where you shop or observe, the % of mask wearers in my area ranges from 10% to 90% (some include voluntary temperature checking at the entrance, too). I feel more comfortable when the place is filled with shoppers and/or staff wearing masks (mostly surgical (level 1?)) while we're still subject to physical distancing.

So far, I  have personally known only one confirmed case -- a young guy in his late 20s who contracted the virus after spending a holiday in Big Apple in early March. He has since recovered. Most babyboomers, woodworkers or not, I know wear masks when they do their grocery runs. My older neighbor couple who have underlying conditions do not shop anymore as their daughter and son-in-law bring them their grocery every week.
 
I happened to have about ten 3M N95 non-valved masks in my shop that myself and my family have been using every time we go in public along with copious amounts of hand sanitizer. I opted not to use the valved masks that I have.

I have two family members in San Diego area that have had extremely bad COVID19 for over a month, both hospitalized multiple times. They are finally recovering. I know of three family members of another friend with it, one of whom is currently hospitalized in ICU. For those who get this thing, it's legit.

I got a box of N95 masks from the last CyberMonday Sale...when no one was interested in the surplus masks. I haven't used them by and large as I meant to donate them to my local hospitals...but so far they have had no issues with their level of stock/supply. Let's hope it will stay that way, and when the outbreak is over, I can use the N95 masks in my shop, just like in pre-pandemic time.
