Knew Concepts Coping Saws - 20% Off

[member=18038]copcarcollector[/member], I probably should have said "while supplies last" instead of "limited time". We have a handful of each left in stock.

This is a fantastic deal!  I have one being delivered today from Lee valley, unfortunately at full price. And now I see Lee Valley raised the price on the coping saw to $200!  [eek]  So Tool Nut's sale is downright awesome. Can't wait to put it to use this weekend!

uh....at the risk of asking a dumb question, what's the difference between a fret saw and a coping saw?

If it helps, a fret saw uses the same 5 inch pinless blade that a scroll saw uses. Coping saw uses a 6.5 inch pinned blades. Fret saw blade has thin kerf and pretty narrow, so it can turn quickly. I use mine for cleaning out between dovetail tails and pins. Could also be used for marquetry.

Coping saw is a bit sturdier.

If you are worried about a job you would need a fret saw. If you are dealing with a job, you would need a copping saw. [big grin]

The $200+ price is for the Titanium version.  The Aluminum version is priced around $100 but it's still a better deal at ToolNut with 20% off.

Can the blade on a fret saw be rotated?  And if so, mid-cut?  Or do you have to stop the cut, remove the blade from the kerf, and change the orientation?

EDIT: Ok, I see.  just watched the video.

I ordered the fret saw and did not get any message it was out of stock. Been wanting one of these for a while.

No, it was the aluminum coping saw.  They must have made a mistake because it's now listed at $149 again.  If you've been eyeing one of these, Tool Nuts deal is fantastic!

Just to clarify the above:

When I bought mine, it was actually pretty confustion how Knew Concepts lays it out on their site.  There's an "Economy" model that looks exactly the same but doesn't rotate.  I think that Tool Nut only carries the rotating one (45 degree detents but full rotation) which is the one you want anyway.  Also, I'm sure Shane can help with what they carry, but I bought some blades from Lee Valley, including a spiral blade that cuts in any direction.  All in all, i love my fret saw and I use it for a bunch of tasks.  This replaced a cheapo coping saw from Amazon and the distance was night and day in terms of accuracy and ease of cut.

Guys, it looks like these are all gone. Thanks for those who ordered. Will keep you posted on any other great deals like this in the future.  [thumbs up]
