Knocking noise on ct26

Hi everyone.  My CT26 is about 2 1/2 years old and I recently began to hear a small knocking noise when it shuts down.  It doesn't affect the performance, but it concerns me that it might get worse and my warranty is up in a few months.  Has anyone had a similar problem with their CT's.  It's not very loud and only happens when it's shutting down.

Thanks,

I've not read or heard of such a problem. But, since your warranty is expiring soon and shipping is free, why not get it checked out? Seems like the safe thing to do. Or, at the very least, call and talk to our service team.

Could you have accidentally sucked up a dwarf? [eek]

When you say knocking - is is a regular noise that could co-incide with the slowing of the motor?

i agree that a call to Festool service is the first step. If they can't solve your problem over the phone, I would ABSOLUTELY ship it back while it's still under warranty. You paid a premium price for a premium product and the service that comes along with it. This is part of what you paid for, and - although I've not yet had to use my Festool warranty - every indication is that they are GREAT about taking care of their customers.

If they want you to send it in so they can fix it for you, you'd only be without it for a few days.

Unless I'm missing something (which could certainly happen!) I don't really see that this is a very difficult decision? At least it sure wouldn't be for me!

Thanks for the reply everyone.  Kev, it definitely is associated with the slowing down of the turbine.  It only happens right at the end of the shutdown, maybe the last 5 seconds before it stops.

I think I will contact Festool service this week and ship it I have to.

Thanks,

Sounds the way to go.  Ring Festool for 'reassurance;' then if necessary, as Shane says, free shipping back to base - what a fabulous Festool 'perk.'
Richard.
