Kpex accuracy

I am trying to make a frame (like picture frame).  The 90 deg setting is dead on, but the 45 deg seems to be shy by 0.5 Deg on both sides of the saw.  I measured the angles with a digital angle gauge.  This gage is dead on when measuring my combination square at 90 & 45.  The frame does not close when I glue up.  Am I expecting too much?

First, welcome to the forum.

You could be seeing that much error from movement in the material during the cut if you're not clamping it down good, for instance.

You can refer to the supplmental manual for the Kapex. It has instructions for adjusting that but you may find it difficult to dial it in much better than that.  Basically, just loosen the screws holding the miter gauge and slide it in or out (depending on which way it needs to be adjusted) while preventing any movement left or right.

A question I would be is are you just cutting to a line, or do you have stops set to ensure that the parallel lengths are exactly the same length.  That could be throwing you off as well.  Secondly, are you cutting through the piece and cutting off the saw or, are you pulling the running blade back up through the cut?  Both can call issues.  I tend to cat the last one a tad (about 1/64th) long and use a shooting board for that final thou or two to make it perfect.
