Does anyone know where I can order a screw like that found on the bench mount part of the Kreg Automaxx  clamp?

Need exact same screw.

Kreg doesn't carry them...

no I didn't lose it ;P

I thought it was just me, but my clamps did not have them either.  [wink]

In any case, it is a 5/16-18 button head screw, around 3/4" long. You may be able to get them at a big box store. If you have any trouble PM me your address and I will mail you a couple, I have a drawer full.

Just an FYI for those that might purchase these clamps - the screw is in a little pocket in the packaging, I missed it the first time!

Thanks ---

Kreg doesn't carry the spare part but would send me a new clamp (that is top notch).

Well, I just thought to myself that is to much waste...

I found one online retailer that ships the screw RMW specified by the singles if anyone else has similar problem and wants to resolve the same way:

The one that came with my clamp was distorted...(the head wasn't at all centered over the screw---not even close).

So although it would work fine on the clamp mount (it threaded fine), it wouldn't set into the Seneca Clamp Dog at the same time (requires the screw be....normal).

Nothing at the local Borg, nor Ace...I could jury rig something...but now I was so invested I was hellbent on getting the darn right screw for it and wanted to get it online 2014 style!  I'm stubborn that way sometimes...sadly.

In addition to online,  Fastenal has something like 2,600 walk-in stores all over the world.  A very full line industrial supplier & nice to deal with.

I've noticed that buying GRK screws through Fastenal nearly doubled the price.  Might want to see if McMaster-Carr sells a comparable screw.

They do (I get them there) but QTY of 25 or 50 only.

Christopher - seriously PM me your address and they can go out tomorrow, no problem.

just drive 2hrs over to my house and I'll give you the screw and sell you some real tools

Any updates on this?  I am having issues with my kreg screw threading fully, so I can’t even get close to tightening the clamp onto the seneca clamp dog...

John,

I just responded to your email with a couple questions.  Also, we'll gladly send replacement screws for the Kreg clamps to anyone who's purchased our clamp dogs and needs them.

Wouldn't a spacer (or short stack of washers) take care of your problem?

The auto maxxs are threaded 5/16" -18, I ran a tap thru and wire brushed the loctite off the four I have to make them easier to use.  Do not make the mistake I did and use a bolt to attach to the sides of your MFT for vertical use... the bolt bent the extrusion badly.  I had a time filing and bending to get it back into line.  To cure this I bought two table joiners and drill and counter-sunk for  flat head screws and attached the kreg that way.. works great.

Too late, already made the mistake a while back.......
I noticed the damage right away while adjusting the tension on the clamp, so not too bad and no need to repair as everything still works fine....
It took me a little while to understand why the festool clamps don't do this.....I believe because the force is spread over several inches of the clamp that fits in the extrusion....
I came up with an idea to use some keystock and tap a hole, but never got around to it...Also eyed up the joiners for my rails, thinking the same thing to tap a bolt thru, but they didn't seem wide enough.
Do you know if the rail connectors are the same as the table connectors?
If the table connectors are a bit beefier, I'd rather use those.
Also, did you put your bolt in the center of the joiner?
Thanks, Greg

I actually drilled the hole about 1" from the second set screw in the middle.  I am thinking to buy another set to cut in two to use exclusively for the clamps.  I also use the connectors to vertically attach an auxiliary top with holes like the MFT.  I run 8mm truss head screws and large washers thru the top into the rail joiners to fasten the top so it is a flush vertical surface for doing edge work.

Hey RST your modifications are good.  If you have time please post a couple of pictures. Thks
