Kreg Klamp Table and MFT

I have been thinking about the Kreg Klamp table to simplify face frames etc.  But looking at it again I am thinking I can create the same thing on an MFT.  Basically all I would need are two fences/tracks that I can square up to 90 degrees.  Clamp them down to the MFT and recreate the Kreg product for significantly less.  Have any of you guys done this?  Am I missing something?

i often use my qwas dogs adn clamps witht he holes to create a 90 degree  corner.
i was looking at that table as well. i dont think it is worth it when i have an mft

What if you use the holes in the mft (which should be perfectly square to each other), a pair of tracks with profiles on both sides, and some bench dogs with through holes.

Attach a bolt to the track, send it through the dog, then drop the assembly into the mft holes.  Firm up the whole assembly by bolting the unit from underneath with a washer to hold it down.

I don't have any pictures, as I just thought this up so it may not make sense except in my head.

I I got the idea from watching a Gary katz video. He had one installed in a corner of his MFT3. I instead routed one in a sheet of ply that I use as a shelf that sits on the cross members of one of my MFT 3s. Saves alot of space and is versatile. Im also going to add a router plate to it so I can use the same piece as a router table to.

For me its all about versatility and space saving and cost.

Just curious...do you have issues with glue bleed out on to mft top.
the table I use for doing faceframes is usually ruined by glue build up.

My kreg plate is on a seperate piece of ply that I use also for a shelf that sits below the MFT and rest on the cross members of the MFT I just remove the shelf, set it on top of the MFT when needed.

That is pretty cool.  Is the knob that goes below the table absolutely necessary?  Could it be eliminated if a longer post was used?

That's a good question.  I never tried it, nor have I thought about it.  I will have to give it a shot next time I need to use it. 
If it works out, then you sir have saved me 30 seconds fumbling with the knob! 

I know that if I install the dog from underneath the MFT, I would need the knob.  Doing this would make the Kreg clamp flush with the MFT top.

The way I have it in the photo above, raises the Kreg clamp off the MFT top a little.  So maybe the knob in this configuration is not needed.

I have the same Kreg/Dog setup but just flip the dog so the shoulder is on the bottom and the Kreg clamp sits flush on my MFT.
