Hi
Is the only difference between the two machines the special cutting mode on the ks120, im trying to figure out if i should just go with the 88 or not.
wondering how useful the special mode is and whether ill use it much.  its a big purchase and for once I think the standard model is good enough.

Thanks guys, all feedback loved as always.

The 88 is not available here.  Other differences are lack of lasers and also the bevel / angle accessory.

Only you can answer your needs - I'm a DIY/hobbyist, so I go for as much assistance as possible (lasers, etc) not knowing what my future needs may be.

If the extra features were add on items it could e a different story I suppose, but you can't retrofit the lasers and the angle is very expensive to buy as a separate item.

I was in the same situation a while ago, close to getting the 88. But since the difference in price is not that big considering the Kapex is a really expensive tool I opted to wait and save for a bit more to be able to afford the 120. I think it's better to have features you might not feel the need for now, then not having them and regretting it later on. I got a SCM today without the laser and rather save to be able to upgrade to a Kapex. I've also been considering other brands but I know I'm going to yearn for the Kapex. I want to believe it's worth waiting for.  ::)

You also don't get the clamp with the 88 the clamp and divider add up to approx £100

I have been looking into the kapex too, this is the cheapest I have found with the frame:

Kapex 120 with ug frame but on-line isn't to everyone taste.

Another thing to consider is to contact you local rep for a demo and they will give you a voucher to use at your local dealer, which means you deal with a bricks and mortar shop and get a better price.

My local shop is doing a demo day with vouchers on the 28th so I think I will go for it then.

hey Leigh that is a good price thanks.
they have some great deals on that site, have you purchased anything of them before..

how does it work with vouchers? how good a price do you expect to get from them.

cheers, Cady

Hi Cady,

I haven't purchased from mercer and sons yet,

My local dealer normally matches prices I find on the Internet within £50 which I accept as I have a person I can complain to if needed.

The vouchers, my rep said he can't match the mercer price they can only get within £100 but has told me the voucher for the kapex is worth £100 so the the price is the same.

The demo vouchers give you £50 off for every £500 you spend up to £2000.

I spoke to my local rep at an event in ExCel, he gave me his card and said if I want a demo and then demo voucher to give him a call, get service from festool.

Regards
Leigh
