Kunz Planes

Not great quality, old east German brand. I would save you money and buy a Lie-Nielsen. I think you will be much happier.

Thanks Chad ------- I'm trying to fix up and "old" Stanley 9 1/2 right now so my interest in hand planes is at a high.

I do dig the Veritas and Lie-Nielsen.

Yep,
Eastern block stuff, good mayeb if you want a block plane for your tool belt but invest in Lie-Nielsen, the best!!

I have the Kunz scraper plane and the wooden dovetail plane.  I gave up on the scraper plane and bought a Veritas,  the dovetail plane works fine, but is a bit fussy about initial adjustments.  I also have an old Kunz spokeshave--it's about the same quality as a Stanley/Record that is about 25 years old, not great, but with a lot of work it can be made to work well. I would recommend either the Veritas or LN if you're looking at spokeshaves.
Cheers,
Wayne
