Lacquer on MDO

I just installed some MDO on a tub surround where the client wants it painted with the same paint as the vanity, which is a lacquer. The guy at my lumberyard says one of their customers used an oil based primer and finished with lacquer on MDO and it bubbled up on him???
Does anyone have a suggested primer for lacquer that would work well with MDO also? I hate bubbling, thanks Eric

you may want to get a primer from the same manufacturer of the the lacquer paint that you are using.
I usually apply a vinyl primer by ML Campbell ,the same goes for the paint.

For a Tub surround, is Lacquer really the best finish anyway?  I thought Lacquer wasn't that water resistant in its regular forms?  yes, No?  [blink]
