I've found a used 2004 Laguna model 16HD italian bandsaw for sale.

Claims it was used for 20 hours.  Everything looks to be in fine working order.

Everything on the saw is standard (no high end extra blades or driftmaster or mobility kit)

This model has a 3HP european motor.

Standard guides (not the fancy ceramic).

It has a ~13" resaw capacity (as opposed to 16 on the newer HD models)

A little rust poking through in some spots, very small amount, mostly been sitting in garage, never stored outside I can see.

He's offering to deliver it for $1500 flat.

Is this a good deal?

Secondly, is this thing going to be capable of cutting smooth veneer with a resaw blade?

My first choice would be Agazanni, but I don't see any within my wallet's reach at the moment.

Thanks in advance-
Christopher

I think it is a great saw, but the price seems a little high, especially since it does not include the upgrades that are more common now days.  I would offer less and see what happens.  Properly tuned you can get amazingly accurate cuts from the saw, even as equipped.  Get the ceramic guides and you will get even better results.  The motor is powerful enough and you mentioned getting a good resaw blade -- the Resaw King is a great blade IMHO.

Would $900 be more appropriate?

Yes -- I think that would be more in the ball-park.
