... assembling the new BBQ

I got the open trolley style as I'll eventually build it into and outdoor kitchen. Then I'll make a nice timber top for the trolley and have a stylish drinks station.

Well, its not a Weber, looks large enough for a block party

In Spring at the Hardware/Timberyard the weekend crew are often assembling BBQs for display. Some can be a real pain. Don't know how some plebs manage when they get their flat pack box home.

The boss has supplied an Exceed battery Driver. It is so bad that most of the time I use manual screw drivers. Now how can I convince him to buy a CXS.  [big grin]

Enjoy the 'First' meal Kev.

Kev,

Are those ceramic infrared burners?

Well of course they are Peter, this is a purchase by Kev!  [big grin]

Cannot imagine him buying a footy club special!

For non Aussies. A footy club special is basically 1200x450mm of poor quality plate steel with three or four burners underneath.

I asked for a reason.  When I bought my largest gas grill it had four regular burners, a ceramic infrared searing burner, and an infrared rotisserie burner as well as a side burner for pots and pans and also a gas oven.  After a couple of uses of the ceramic searing burner (which I love) I decided to check out what the replacement cost would be for those.  At that time they were only about 45 USD each.  Now they are hard to find and over 200 use each.  Over time, especially if you are a spice junkie, you will get drips and things that will drop onto the burners and potentially clog some of the tiny holes.  Even the wire guards on top will potentially suffer.  Eventually the ceramic will start to break down.  By that point in time the parts might be hard to find, as in my case.

So, some unsolicited advice:  Check into what replacement burners cost now, and if you find them reasonable, buy a set especially if you grill a lot.  Never get a pressure washer near them, and let your burners run longer than when you are just done cooking food.

Enjoy your new grill Kev!

Peter
