I just wrapped up this install today.  I think I used just about every Festool I own in the construction/installation of this piece. The customer insisted on the upper door style and having a large, beefy mantle.  It was my first time making curved muntins and the customer is happy so I'm happy. Kem Aqua plus for the finish and I used Rev a shelf's Tresco lighting for the first time and liked the system.  The puck light jig from True Position tools made drilling for the puck lights a breeze and the lights are all hooked up to a wireless button that is mounted on the backside of the mantle.

Nice! Hardware to be installed or are those touch to open doors?

Seth

Thanks, Seth.  They are ordering the hardware so I have to wait until it comes in.

Do you have any process pictures or a tutorial on how to build those glass doors? I'm doing a very similar project and want something more interesting. Ordering those doors would be too expensive. Thanks.

That's one impressive build and the curved muntins really stand out.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow. That is gorgeous work! LOVE the curved muntins. Adds some nice shadow with the lights.

Beautiful work! I agree the mantel being that thick doesn't really work for me. If it was countertop thickness it'd make a lot more sense to my eyes.

I've got some pics but nothing that would help you walk through the process.  I made the mistake of coping everything first and soon realized that was a bad idea.  Doing so meant that I ended up removing material at the end of some of the pieces that still needed to be shaped with the profile bit.  I'll post some pics that I do have in a bit.

Thanks.  That mantel went through at least three variations.  They initially were going to put an electric fireplace where the middle cabinets are and it was going to be topped with a more traditional trimmed mantel with legs.  They scraped the fireplace idea for the cabinets and the mantel was going to stay the same.  Eventually that idea was replaced with a wood stained mantel with decorative trim work.  That plan was replaced with what is in place now.  My customer wanted something bulky and somewhat rustic.  I was skeptical at first but have come to like her idea.  Thanks for your feedback.
