LAST CALL for First Aid Systainer Orders and Payment

Mine arrived today! Just had an opportunity to open my box and check it out. Very well-packed and protected for shipping. But even more important, very well-packed in the systainer! Wow, thank you so much for such a top-notch product! I'm amazed at how nicely laid out everything is. And how much you were able to pack into this. Thank you so much for all your hard work and vision in regards to this first aid kit!

I had my kit for less than 24 hours when my brother hurt his finger pretty bad on the job yesterday - I didn't even know what a Sam splint was until I opened up this awesome box!  We used up a cold pack, ibuprofen, sam splint - and the ace bandage (or some sort of similar wrap) - and several bandages, but that was actually before any of this happened.  The scissors are awesome - I was really glad we were prepared.    Locating everything in the kit was quick and easy.  I'd say a kit like this is really more like a necessity.  Thanks again!

A side note - Any suggestions on where we might go to get replacements?  I ordered cold packs last night, and I think I might have ordered the correct finger splints, but I'm not too sure on the ace bandage.  I never got a chance to really see what the ace bandage was but I want to replace it - what would you suggest I purchase to replace it?  I went to amazon.com because it's fast and easy (I did try our local medical supply store, but they were surprising low on everything).

Thanks again!

You are welcome, of course!

As for the systainer packing layout, that is the result of MANY failed attempts and lots of refinements. At one point my wife said it looked like an emergency room exploded all over the place!!!

[thumbs up]

And some of it was dumb luck. For instance, the 'Med Box' fitting as perfectly as it did wasn't planned, but - dayum - it sure fits nice, don't it?

[big grin]

And it turns out there were only a couple of options on where to put the solutions, since the bottles were so tall that they interfered with the attic lid. I couldn't know any of this until all of the product was here so I knew package sizes, etc. Sometimes it felt a little like calculus class and trying to optimize space? Other times it felt like I was trying to put 10 pounds of stuff into a five pound bag!

Still, it was a fun project and one I am proud of. And, like someone else pointed out, YOU and it are now part of FOG history!

Glad you had it and glad it worked out for you!

Since I am preparing for another run of these, just let me know what you need and I'll get it for you. That way everything will fit and be the same as when you started.

Well, as you know my kit arrived a few days ago and I was very impressed. This has almost everything, the packaging for shipping and the placement of the products inside of the systainer are superb.

The only problem I had was trying to close it again after dumping all of the contents as everything seems to have its perfect place.

Thanks wow for all of your hard work!

Yeah, I promised a video that will help with that, and i *will* do one. Not being able to stand or walk has delayed it significantly, I'm afraid. I hate being stuck in bed. In fact I'm going batty if you must know!

Once I get the video done you will be able to re-pack everything in less than 5 minutes. Probably in less than 3. I apologize that you don't already have it - this injury is a pain in the a... ah, foot!

So, an update on a few more things that weren't in the First Aid Systainer when I needed them either:

• Crutches? Nope - although it did remind of the post on fitting a 55" guide rail into a Systainer. Fortunately I had a pair in the attic from when I broke my foot several years ago.

• Big, clunky. velcro and steel-ribbed foot brace boot-thingy? Nope - but I think I could fit one of these into a Sys 2 with a little effort. Maybe I'll try that just for grins and giggles - once I get bored enough - which probably won't be too long. [sad]

Anyway, for BOTH of you who are still following this thread  [unsure] it turns out I'll *still* be off my feet and on bed rest for at least the next week due to injuring my foot LAST week. And that's if I heal FAST - which I usually do.

Foot has to stay elevated higher than my heart to keep swelling down, and to help it to heal. So, another week in bed, flat on my back. Speaking of swell, this whole episode is swell. JUST Swell (He says with EXTREME sarcasm and not even a hint of a smile.

So, if ya see me hangin' around the FOG even MORE than usual...now you know the reason. WOW is batsh*t BORED, and climbing the walls. Or wishing he was?!

Wow,  you're too funny.  Keep up the good spirits, and for gods sake, don't do anything without wrapping yourself in bubble wrap from here on out. :)

Uh, if you will look a couple of threads down, there is a thread on "possible interest in second run of first aid systainers".....  Enough interest has been shown for a second run, WOW is now taking orders.  I think orders close on the 16th August....  You need to sign up and send da $$$$

I believe the rules are that if you post a picture like that, you have to tell us the story behind it?

Update on WOW:

Made a trip to the ER last night when pain got too unbearable. They took X-rays etc. but found nothing. Multiple hits of dilaudid did nothing. They ultimately discharged me with more pain meds and a recommendation that I contact an orthopedic surgeon to see if it might be nerve related.

Got back home about 7 this morning and have been in a drugged stupor ever since. Except for these two trips to medical facilities I haven't been out of the house - or out of bed - in a week and half now. Just going 10 feet to the bathroom takes me 15 minutes and numerous outbursts.

I have an appointment on Thursday to see an orthopod that I have used in the past. He would have gotten me in today, but I couldn't stand the pain of trying to get there after the workout they gave me in the ER.

There are a couple of people that I owe kits to, and one that purchased something from me via the classifieds. Needless to say, those haven't shipped yet.... but I'll do everything I can to get them out this week anyway.

Oh - and I've decided that the 'o' in wow now stands for 'opiate'.

[thumbs up]

Was removing some window trim (the aprons actually), and was using a 5 in 1 to pry the apron off.  Well, wouldn't you know I got frustrated because the arses that installed the apron actually did a great job and glued the apron to the stool.  As I was pulling to 5 in 1 out, I sliced my other hand/knuckle (think I saw bone.)

Love the attic access, but pulled a rookie move and didn't lock it when I opened up the kit to get the scissors...:)

Jon

Get better Wow.  Hang in there.

Got a diagnosis! YEAH!

According to my orthopod, I have 'Extreme Extensor Tendonitis'. Basically I did what I thought I did, i.e. inflamed the tendons in both feet from standing/working on concrete too long. And handling heavy pieces of steel (i.e. adding that weight to what my feet had to support) didn't help.

He told me 'ice, ice, ice' to reduce the swelling. And he put me on a regimen of steroids for the inflammation and more opiates to deal with the pain. He said that - knowing me - as long as I kept my feet elevated and iced I should be back walking by this time next week. Maybe earlier.

Good thing I don't have to pass any drug testing though - I'd make Barry Bonds look like a tee-totaler!

I asked if I had missed some 'warning signs' and he said probably not. Just that I am no longer 21 and bulletproof. And that I need to space out my projects a bit more. These concentrated 'explosions' of activity are not good for me. Dangnabit - I like working when I feel good, so it's a bummer that I might need to tone it down. Slow and steady has never been my style!

Oh well - a few more days in bed is far better than going under the scalpel. I can deal with this...

Aren't those knuckle bandages great?! And you did remember to use the Triple Antibiotic Ointment on it, right?

BTW, if you think you saw bone you probably should see a doctor - you may need stitches. But you already knew that too, didn't you?

Ya, hard to resist using the 5 in 1 for everything and anything.
I only pack it if I am painting, that way it doesn't get abused, but still it finds it's way into my hand for the wrong use.

Update on WOW:

I just walked to the kitchen to get something to drink so I could take my meds!

Happy Dance!

Yes, it hurt a little and no, I'm not 'healed' - but it's a welcome sign that things are finally going the right direction.

As of tonight it's been two weeks since I've even LOOKED at any of my Festool stuff, let alone used it! I'm going through withdrawals! I'm so WIRED!

Hmmm...maybe these pills *are* working!

[wink]

I don't now WOW pills that make you forget about your Festools that sounds like a bad road to go down. Hope you get well soon so you can be reunited with what really makes you feel better. Maybe elevate you feet with a couple systainers. Of course consult your doctor first.
