Latest TV unit job pre assembly ( Finished and installed )

Hi guys,

I just got done with the final assembly  of this unit, so i thought id share some pics before i break it down and get going with the finish. On the left side of the unit i had to add some 38mm steel tubing at the back to help give the shelving and back panel some support. Its even stronger now then the right side, so im pretty pleased with how it all worked out.

 
Very nice.  That bad boy just fits for height eh !

How many hours do you have on something like that ?

I used crown mahogany veneered chipboard and then on all the faces of the thick panels i glued on 22mm solid sapele mahogany.

It is for a client, i was hoping to have it finished by now but lack of space has really slowed things down.

Hi Woodguy

Im trying to work out the hours now...............mmm i started on the first of this month, and its the 19th today. So thats 19 days minus about 4 days that i had to work on other thing. Average of 9 hours a day...and that works out to uuummmmmmm 135 hours so far. Flip, that is alot of hours!!! Ive never worked out the hours on a job before. [eek]

Hi Neill

When  i have it in the clients house i will take pics with everything like the tv and so on installed. I sent her these photos to and she says she cant wait to see it all finished. Even though it looks pretty much exactly the same as the rendering i sent her.

This isnt my best rendering but i was pressed for time and couldnt wait 10 hours for it to render.

Thats always the way [wink] we spend hours designing a job then it comes to rendering and that is a whole different game. [eek] One guy on a cad forum wrote about having to wait all night for the render to print for a job, he started at 9 am. It is scary stuff, though rewarding in the end.
The project looks real nice, I look forward to the install pics.
Out of interest what CAD program do you use, and do you use an aftermarket rendering product?
I like the design of this project, any chance of a work in progress type post? I think many members would enjoy one.

Hi Rob,

I only use the standard 3Dmax 9 for all the modelling and rendering. Id love to be able to make a nice work in progress type post but to be honest its hard  for me to stop what im doing and take photos all the time, i just get so involved in the project that everything else goes out the window.

I don't know whether you are better at woodworking or using your CAD program.  [unsure]

Thanks Wayne.  [crying] You realise that my therapist just got my head in the right place after I saw your last project. I have no idea how much I'm gonna pay him now!  [eek]

Really awesome work. Seriously good stuff. I like the simple, clean line design. Very elegant.
 
Hi Guys,

Just got done installing the unit to day. It took about 3 hours to get it up the stairs, into the house and put everything back together. The client was very happy, they didnt even give me a chance to leave before i got a sms from my bank saying the balance had been paid. [thumbs up]
