I'm wondering if anyone has experience with either Ryobi, Greeworks, WORX, OR Black and decker battery operated lawn mower, weed eater, blowers?  Obviously higher wattage =more power...Can a ~20 watt blower move any air?  They lost them in MPH, BUT, a 300 MPH pin sized amount of air won't lift more than a single leaf. Does anyone have ANY experience with these things?  My search turned up nothing. I tried different search terms...

I looked locally at Ryobi and a few others and chose Stihl. Aside from Stihl's lawn mower offering, everything in the Stihl cordless battery gardening range is top notch and very effective.

I looked at either Ryobi or Ego, but it seems my Hombre Depot is getting rid of them, at least the only ones they had left were on the clearance table. Seemed odd right before spring. Funny, I thought that 40-56 volt systems like that were the new thing.

I'm looking at Stihl, have owned their gas fed products for the last 18 years and have been very satisfied. Not really looking forward to a new battery platform, however the amount of service I've derived from the gas fed units versus the amount of servicing they require is a no brainer. Truly service free, and I've got a bunch...

I saw an Ego string trimmer on clearance.  Right next to it was the newer model...with a brushless motor (full price).  They are definitely carrying them for another year.

I have a cordless Stihl chainsaw and it's fantastic. I'm given to understand in addition to the Stihl tools, the battery is also compatible with Stihl's Viking range of mowers, etc.

I was eyeing the new Ego string trimmer side by side with a clearance unit from last season.  In addition to the brushless motor, they upgraded the battery from 2.0ah to 2.5ah.

Huh, maybe that was it. I guess I didn't realize Ego wasn't already using brushless motors.

I replaced my gas mower and corded yard tools last year with battery-powered equipment. I have the Ryobi 18V garden tools; a line trimmer, blower, chainsaw, pole trimmer, cultivator and hedge cutter. I like having a group of tools that use the same battery, and, with exception of the blower, they all perform nicely. The blower just isn't powerful enough for the job -- I guess they call these small units 'sweepers' rather than blowers for a reason. I like the line trimmer's size and weight (about like my older 14 or 15 inch corded models) better than the larger units. The one task where its smaller cutting diameter comes up a little short is edge-trimming the lawn, as it just doesn't cut as deep as I would like. Aside from this, the Ryobi 18V tools are just what I've been missing all these years.

I also purchased the Ego mower last year. Wonderful mower. I also got their blower and hedge trimmer to up-size from the Ryobi units. The Ego now-this-is-a-blower really gets the job done. Previously, all the hedge trimmers I've had have been the smaller 3/8" size, so the 3/4" capacity of the Ego has really been an improvement. These Ego tools are notably nicer tools, however, they have soft-start motors which, while nice in many power tools, seems awkward in use in some of these garden tools.

So, I would recommend all of the tools I purchased other than the Ryobi blower, but then I wouldn't expect much different from any of the other brands of 'sweepers' available.

Thanks Corwin! That's the kind of info I was hoping for. These are price concerns not necessarily quality. Obviously I'm looking at economy since I'm shopping lesser expensive tools. I could just tell from battery size that the "blowers" we're gonna be weak since I'm used to an echo 700 CFM gas powered. But these aren't for me. They're for a lady.

The 36V Stihl blower is the real deal!! It sucks the battery dry very quickly, but it's no issue with a spare on hand.

That would mean buying the pricey Stihl "system" unless she wants a bank of different batteries and chargers lining her garage.... This is about a system that's "workable"  Me?  I'd most likely go Stihl.  It seems Ego is the smarter buy, it's not my money.
