Just before Xmas I added a bench grinder w/ 2 by 36 belt to my collection, it was the proverbial straw/camel's back situation. I ran out of bench space. This got me thinking about making a lazy Susan-type turntable, and after mocking it up I think I can fit 3 tools (grinder/disk sander/PortaBand) on a ~30" turntable.
I am considering using (2) 30" plywood disks with a common axle/dowel pin and just separating them with some thin UHMW in place of bearings/rollers. Drill a circular series of holes in the top and embed a threaded insert in the bottom so I can rotate it and then use a threaded knob to lock it in place.
Anyone have any suggestions or have a similar setup?
