Dang - I had the skew rabbet planes in my sights this year.  I was keeping a watch on the site for the sale to start, but the sale was not up at 10:06 Mountain time.  When I looked again at about 10:25, the sale was up.  Skew rabbet planes were included, but they were already sold out.

There were 3-4 other planes that I could have used also - all sold out.

Maybe next year.

Yes, for some reason, the sale was not on till minutes after 10pm (MT). I placed two orders, completing one and then going back. The email confirmation for the first order was received at 10:10.

Almost all the planes including the shooting planes were still there when I worked on my second order...but all gone after I finished my second order. In other words, except for the edge plane, all the planes were sold out within 12 or 13 minutes after the sales began.

For the record, I only picked up one small plane as I already have most of the planes on sale there.

I'm actually glad I completely forgot about it, otherwise I would have to answer to the ms. as to why I couldn't afford a nice xmas gift for her this year...

I usually find a couple goodies in the Home and Kitchen accessories for stocking stuffers and such. I share my LV wish list with the wife and don't go overboard with high priced items. Just today I found a chuck with a hollow arbor (#09A08.26) for use with small drill bits up to 5/32". It was listed at $11.50 but when I put it in the cart it came up at $9.50. That's about 18% off for the chuck, with similar price reductions for the other items I bought this morning. Treated myself to the chuck but the rest of my order was for family and friends. I usually spend about $300 to 400 every year on gifts for friends and family at LV.

Hi -

Yes - the planes go pretty quickly, as we don't make a lot of seconds (at least, we try NOT to...).

Loading multiple web servers with content always takes a few minutes - no way around that. I suppose we could start before midnight, but then we'd be likely to finish too early.... :)

Every year the bar gets just a little bit higher...!

Of course - we do offer the discounted gift cards, which will give you an effective discount on most purchases (some restrictions like Festool, Sawstop etc) at any time in the future, on top of any advertised price.

Cheers -

There is always the next Cyber Monday Sale...next year, it'll be your turn for a nice Xmas gift! [big grin]

I received an email about the sale from Lee Valley at 5:04 AM EST and I looked at 5:25 AM, there was about 15 planes all sold out but 2. Looks to me like a click bait  [eek]

Nope - it's like this every year.  People hover on the site at midnight EST, and the snatching is fierce.  This is my third year and this is the closest I've gotten to a plane - missed it by ~5 minutes at 12:25 EST.  Like Rob said, there aren't many seconds, and they go quickly.  The cards are a reasonable substitute.

Hi -

For a bit of perspective - there were several hundred planes in the Cyber Monday sale. The hour between midnight and 1:00 am was the busiest hour we've ever had for the website! Most of the planes went then - where we only had 20-40 of each.

It really is feeding frenzy!

Cheers -

Rob
