Limit Stops Difference

What is the difference between the 2 different Limit Stops (485827 & 491582) besides the price?

Is it just the way they attach to the guide rail, as it appears the 485827 is a quick release and the 491582 is the screw type?

485827 grabs the outside of the rail protrusion.

491582 grabs the inside of the t-track on the edge of the rail opposite the splinter guard. It's designed to stop kick-back when plunge cutting.

That makes 485827 more universally useful. It can grip either the u-shaped protrusion or the outside of the t-track.

Tom I have to disagree with you on which stop is more useful.
The 491582 also works with the of 1010 and 1400 as a stop.  NOTE:  The forward edge (the one with the arrow pointing to it) is the center of the mandrel when using the rail guides.

I know of no operation which can be preformed with 485827 that cannot be done with the cheaper 491582

The 485827 looks very much like part of the lr-32 hole drilling system. If it is the same part, you could attach a bar of some description to it to make some form of measuring guage. You can't do that with a 491582

You are very observant, southern_guy...

It uses the same body as the LR 32 set's Side Stop guide rail grip. It has the half-hexagonal groove and hole for the gripping plate already in it.

for pointing that out.  So that stop was originally made for the LR 32 kit then? are there any other aplications that it is uniquely suited for?
