Limited Edition Centrotec and Zobo Forstner-style bits for US buyers - Imperial or Metric

I wanted to get an opinion on whether US buyers would purchase the new Imperial Zobo Forstner-style bits being released in the mini systainer on 1 Dec or whether you would buy the metric kit, and why (metric for some cabinet hinges, etc). Since the Imperial kit looks like a limited release I was thinking of getting that one while it is available.

Also forgot to add before I posted - any opinions on the Centrotec Installers Set 498796 with Imperial Drill bits - how does this kit compare to the one released a few years ago? Based upon the picture it looks like there are some empty slots in the upper right of the bottom tray where something would go that is not included in this release.

Is that you in the Cobra?  [scared]

I ordered both the metric and imperial sets -- there is enough size difference between the two sets to make them both useful for my purposes.

(Excuse me -- "Super Cobra")?

Super Cobra correct?  One of my lives was as an Air Traffic Controller.

Yes, AH-1W Super Cobra. The new AH-1Z is coming online now, new aircraft with glass cockpit, 4 bladed rotor system, bigger wings for more weapons. The Marine Corps uses the full alphabet before changing their helicopters.

Same as the 2011 version. There are empty spaces to give you a place for anything that you want to put in there that's not included, same in the 2011 version.  [smile]

Thanks Shane. What do you think about both Zobo Forstner bit kits in the mini systainers? Have these been offered previously?

The Zobo bits were offered previously, but not in the Mini Systainer. The previous time they were only in metric. These and the Centrotec Sets are limited quantity, limited time promotional items.

I have the metric Zobos and the brad point wood bits. Both are extremely excellent bits. Sharp as all he...........

I see they have the installer set with the metric Zobos, I wonder if my dealer will swap the metric for a standard set (hint-hint)???

Ok since youre a a grunt Ill give a my opinion.

I went with the metric. The reason is everything with festool is metric. I find it easier for me to use.

(edited to add festool)

Ahh, the single engine ones...no redundancy.  [scared]

We like staying dry since we fly off of ships - I'd rather cheat with 2 engines than swim :)

Ordered the Centrotec installers set with Imperial brad point bits from Bob Marino and will probably wait on the Zobo sets unless I can find a need for them. Bob is a great guy.
