Just bought one of these!

I've been looking at getting one for a month or so (after seeing a link on here - thanks) but the job I'm currently doing involves fitting a bathroom extractor on the first floor (or the second floor, if you're in the US) and my mate has very inconsiderately gone on holiday so I can't borrow his extension ladders!

I doubt I'll need it much as an extension ladder, but as a step ladder and platform I'll get quite a bit of use out of it.

Can't wait for them to arrive tomorrow! [big grin]

I got one of the next larger size recently, along with all the accessories.  It does work really well.  I used it to paint pretty much the entire interior of my house.  Worked great for the two story entry and stairwell.  I was a little disappointed how heavy it is.  I went back to my cheapo aluminium step ladder where it worked since it was easier to move around.  Glad I got it though.

Nice one, let us know how you get on. Is this is a newer model than the one I saw a few years ago? A colleague of mine in Ireland who runs a top top joinery firm sweared by these little giants, and I was interested until I read some reviews about how unsafe they were  which put me off from buying, but I'd love to buy one as I need to get as high up as I can with as little footprint as possible when travelling.

I bought a Zarges Teletower a few months ago after years of lusting after it but so far have found a few drawbacks so interested how these telescopic systems compare. The telescopic extensions can be painful when they collapse for packing up (mind your fingers) and there's a little bit more sway when outdoors but that's to be expected due to the design.

What's the max working height in step ladder form and did you buy any extras?

Yes I too overlooked this point with these telescopic systems, they can be really awkward to load/unload when folded up  :(

I bought my first Little Giant ladder in 1992. I now have six ladders & 3 walk boards. No way would I ever give them up.

I acquired my first Little Giant ladder in '80 or so and a second one in '13.  My son now has my first one.  They are a bit hefty, but ever so strong and handy.

I have three (3) sizes -- they are very sturdy and handy but also quite heavy if you handle them a lot i.e. contractors.

That was my reasoning, too. With this, the heights are incredible compared to the storage size, which is fairly small at 1600mm high.

They don't seem to give 'working heights' on the website, but as a step ladder the overall height varies from 1.5m to 2.55m. As an extension ladder, up to 5.33m!!!

I didn't buy any extras yet - the extras have delivery included anyway, so there's no advantage to ordering them wit the ladder. I'm thinking about getting one of the small work platform attachments (only 30 quid), but I can't see me needing anything else.

As for the weight, they're 17kg, which is quite heavy for a step ladder. If you're using it for internal work with regular ceiling heights, I guess you could remove the 'extending' sections completely (as if you were converting it into two trestles) and that would halve the weight. Plus, it's got the wheels on if you need to move it far.

Of all the accessories,  I would get the work platform again.  The leg leveler will probably come in handy when I use it outside.

This looks great, as an addition to a smaller, lighter ladder.

-  but what size?  I see three:  17',  22'  and 26'.    I assume that's the total length when straight, but they don't explain what that means when in various configurations.

I have a 1 story (ranch) house.  Any idea which size is most useful,  or to put it another way:  If I got the 17', would I eventually be sorry?

I have 2 of each of the following sizes of the Classic model, 13', 17' & 22'. Use the 13' size the most. I carry one of those in my work truck. It will reach the roof of a single story ranch style home just fine.  If you scroll down the page of this link, you will see the sizes.

Little Giant Ladder Sizes.

P.S. One of the best places to buy these ladders are at shows or fairs.

If you have a ranch house on a crawl space I would go for the 17'.  I don't have the Little Giant ladders but have two from a competitors.  They are all heavier due to the amount of material in them, but they can really get you out of ladder jams.

I much prefer the 17' model for most circumstances.  A long-time buddy bought the 22' and it sits in his garage most of the time due to the extra weight, although it excels at work in stairwells and on cathedral ceilings.
