Local suppliers for this that allow me to connect to my MFT?

I'm wanting to find an local supplier of a bolt with oblong/oval head that lets me attach things to my tracks without the damage a smallish square head bolts can do. I would like them to thread to a rail dogs and just be common so I have more of a system of attachments.

I work on location and so I need to lock things down to my tacks for maybe just one day or maybe for 5 days or maybe twice a day.

I'm seeing and feeling marks on my MFT rails due to setting up and down many times.

Square head are fine if you only set up once every three years....but daily setup with square heads can eat the rail.

Sorry if the image is small.

I have some of those from Rockler , Lee Valley, or Woodcraft. I bought a couple packs of each size when I ordered something else so that I would have them handy when I needed them.

I have the same question as Steve.  Are they available as general hardware by some other name? Toilet flange bolts? Are those the same thing?

I have to agree strange as it sound I have found toilet flange bolts work real well and are less expensive than those from Rockler

What you have pictured looks an awful lot like a toilet flange bolt, available at any local big box hardware store (Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, etc.)

Looks similar to this:

No different than the ones shown in the reply above available at Rockler (except their 1/3 of the price of the Rockler ones)
and available locally if you do not have a Rockler or Woodcraft store nearby (remember gas is $3.50 / gallon)

I think the original poster said "local supplier" so I get the impression he does not want to pay shipping charges associated with ordering them from an online supplier, or he just doesn't have the time to wait for them to be delivered. In either case, the toilet flange bolts are exactly the same thing, they are cheap and they should be available at any local hardware store.

I suggested Rockler, because they are homeported in the twin cities and have local stores.  Toilet flange bolts are usually brass and the t-track ones ar plated steel.  Take your choice, they are all about $1.50 each.

Probably the best deal is to get one Rockler's t-track knob and bolt assortments.

LV has just added this special buy/limited quantities kit that may be of interest.

Showed up on their website last week, just picked both of them up on Friday myself.  They had similar kits a few years ago, which I missed out on, not this time.

Pretty good deal imo, and its nice to have an assortment on hand to muck around with when you're designing a new jig.

Scott, I wasn't trying to start a fight or anything. I was just letting the guy know he had options other than specialty woodworking stores for the item he seeks.

Got  the 5/16 kit, thanks KevinD.  Does anyone know if you have to get special T track with these bolts, like a proprietary product?

i think that there is something like this on the bottom of the track stops. maybe you could buy a few of them or get replacment parts from ekat. you probably have one in your box. i think the us has them as standard.

you could make them

Scott,  Rockler maybe homported in the twin cities but... they don't know Festool or have knowledgeable staff in this market, they have banking hours... our as we in the Twin Cities say they hirer people that can't drive before sunrise or after dark.... finding them open as a working professional is a royal pain in the *** ... Rockler is that last place I buy from. I will order online...before I support that chain. Too many mistakes and miss information from them.

People that have good Rockler stores.... I'm not sure I believe them.... as Rockler is based here...and can't make the local stores work well here . [dead horse] I just have a hard time thinking they can do it anywhere.

Well IMHO... [big grin]

Cheers,
Steve

I don't know any working pro that will go to Rockler unless pushed.

Cheap! In Denmark a gallon is closer to $ 9.00 !!  [eek]

(And the tax on cars is approx. 180% which explains why we're driving around in shoe box sized cars with small engines!  [big grin])

Kind regards
Henrik

Steve,

Like others have said.  Toilet flange / closet bolts work.  There are two sizes of bolts - 1./4 and 5/16.  Stop at any store and you will find them.
