Locating a Festool 1400 router (metric version).

I can't believe it took me over a week to locate a new Festool 1400 metric router.  My discovery is now on it's way to me, courtesy of UPS.

Many companies will list them, some right alongside the Imperial replacement, but when you call to verify, you will be told all they ship now are the Imperial versions, despite the fact they list the metric part number on their website.

For my find, the guy went out to his warehouse/storeroom and confirmed both the part number on the box, and the metric adjustment feature on the router itself.

I panicked when I saw a post from early February stating a guy was having problems finding any metric versions of the routers, all sizes.  Right away I found the 2200, although not many of them.  However, I did not want to spend that much for a router, so I continued to search for the 1400. I'm glad I did not give up!

Haha, I just went through this last night and this morning, finally placing an order through Amazon from Hartville Tool for a 1010 in metric.  It occurred to me that they may not have updated the part numbers, but I'm tired of looking, if I get an imperial I'll call Festool for the parts if I can replace them myself or just live with the absurdity of a tool that is neither completely imperial or metric.

I hope you get the metric you want, but I should warn you, here is an answer to a question placed on the Festool 2200 Amazon listing, for the Hartville router they have listed for sale:

"The changeover from metric to imperial has been a rolling change. All routers now shipping from Hartville Tool will have the new imperial scale. Thank you for your interest"!

I, like you, had gotten to the point where I was about to ask either Shane or Bob if they could just ship a new Imperial 1400 directly to Festool for conversion back to metric, and charge me the extra for the conversion fee.

It surprised me that the demand was so strong for the metric versions, as I thought I would have more time than I did.

Well that's kinda stinky.  They (HT) is also listed as a seller on Amazon under the imperial OF1010 (updated item number).  So it's not as if they made an innocent mistake, they did the new product, but left the old one out there as well.

I wondered about Hartville when they had nothing listed for the metric 1400 one day, but then had them listed the next.  At one point, I was considering the metric 2200, but then realized it would be cheaper to convert an imperial 1400 than buy the metric 2200.

I won't rest easy until I receive the package and have the opportunity to see it myself.  I hope you get the one you want.

Ya, I feel the pain for both of your situations. That's exactly the reason that when Festool first announced this back in October/November, I immediately purchased the 1400 so that it matches my 1010. I don't really need a 2200 as my Milwaukee 5625 works fine...dust collection not so much.

This could be an interesting development for Festool to track, now that the metric versions have been sold out. Monitoring the volumes of imperial routers sold vs the volume of imperial routers returned to service for the metric upgrade...........er I mean...conversion.  [tongue]

It somewhat coincided with Brexit and the other national movements.
But the US has always held fast and loyal to the imperial system.
