Long guide rail

I got the 3000.  The 2400 (7.5') is too short, and the 2700 (8.8ft) is barely long enough for perfectly straight cuts.  The 3000 (9.8') gives you a basically a foot on each side, and let's you cut an angle across the 4x8 if needed.

It costs more, but is so worth it. :)

Is 2700 long enough for the parallel side fence on an 8x4 sheet?

As a practical matter, to make 8' cuts with the parallel guide, you really need the 3000mm guide rail.

I had 2700 and it was to tight with ts55. I sold it and will be getting 3000 this fall. I have been lucky enough to get in festool classes in Indy. We used the 3000 a number of times. Great size for sheet breakdown with parallel guides.

Really happy with my 2700 just bought it two weeks ago, excellent for breaking sheets down with 55

here's my 2cnets with the math [smile]

the 3000 rail seems like a sweet spot if you have a spot to store it and a way to transport it if you need to.

It is only 300 mm longer than the 2700. That's about a foot more, so not too much extra. That extra allows you plenty of starting and ending room with both saws. It also allows you to cut a full sheet on the diagonal. The 2700 is slightly more than an icnh to short to go corner to corner.

Here in the US the 3000 is only $25 more than the 2700

I have 32", 42" 55" and 75" rails and have made an 55" 8020 connector to keep them straight but if you regularly cut sheets you will wish you have the 118" rail.  I cut mostly plastics and sizes up to 72" X 120" and can make my rails work but if you do a lot of length wise cuts, get the long one.

I don't know which saw you have but the 3000 rail is perfect with the TS75. If you have the TS55 you will have a little more room.

The 2700 is too short to use with the TS75, so I have the 3000. You may be able to get by with the 2700 if you have the TS55, but I figured the extra length was a 'plus' and the cost difference is only $25.

I've used the 95" rail to cut 8' plywood for the last 10 years with the TS55 without any problems. I just got the 106" which makes life much easier! My friend has the 106" for the TS75 which we've been using for five years without any problems. He could only fit the 106 in his truck so that's what he got.
Cheers

I will plus one on the 3000 mm guide rail.  It works great with the parallel guides. Did not want the same, just a little too short that  I have with the 1400 mm guide rail that came with the TS 55 saw. If I had know the dealer (Rockler), could swap out the 1400 mm rail for the 1900 mm I would have done it when I bought the TS 55.

Maybe that is why Rockler is no longer a dealer, poor dealer knowledge/service.
