is there any specific reason the longlife filter bags begin at the CT 26 and not available for the mini/midi here in the US?

I certainly can't speak authoritatively to Festool's manufacturing and marketing but my suspicion would be that when originally offered the long life bags were intended for large-chip larger-volume situations in order to eliminate the constant changing of the bags.  With the midi and mini's smaller size and capacity perhaps they didn't think that there would be enough of a sizable market to justify having enough manufactured to justify the cost and ultimately the sale price.

That's a good question and one that I'd don't know the answer to off-hand. I'll look into it and get back with you.

We're actually looking into making these available in the near future. However, it's not a sure thing, and we don't have a timeline yet.

Could that be because MINI and MIDI are less common in the US? My impression was that CT26 is by far the biggest seller. Could anybody confirm this?

About a month I was on here and clicked on a thread where a guy was going to modify a competitors reusable bag and was asking if anyone has tried that route. a response was a link to a UK tool store that carried their own version of a longer lasting bag than the disposable but not quite the caliber of Festool's long-life bags. The next item on the webpage was: Festool Longlife filter bag -FIS-CTL MINI Festool part # 499703!!! I didn't know they existed! I never would have thought Festool would not offer that, I just assumed they had decided not to produce them and started at CT 26. i bought a CT26 thinking that was the smallest vac with the Long-life filter bag option. I even bought an additional CT 26 bag and was going to modify it into two CT Mini bags! (I have two Mini's I stack them to get dust collection for my Kapex and my Table Saw rather than purchase then have to modify an automatic blast gate setup. if I figure out how to post pics, I'll upload that fancy shmancy modification) A gal I went to school with works for an Airline and lives in the UK. I purchased and shipped them to her house. she is en route with them as I write this.
