I am in search of an advanced stair building book (over the post railing, volutes, turnouts, curved rails, and other advanced handrail and stair layout design and application). Most material i find is for the beginner or for the pro buy lacks information. I would love an updated high skill advanced field carpentry book about stairs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am a carpenter with about 8 years experience and have gotten to work on several hundred difficult and unique projects in my time that most tradesmen only experience in about 15-20 years. For that I am fortunate! But I dont know everything and wish to expand my knowledge and possibilities

[member=71596]woodwarda99[/member] - your post brings to mind a conversation I had with Lon Schleining (author of books published by TAUNTON) some time ago.

While we talked about steam bending, in the course of talking about his work I learned that building staircases is his business in California .

Try his email:

If you don't get a response, let me know.

I just went to woodbender.com and there are some pretty incredible pieces shown.

This book will take you down in the weeds so far you'll think you building the very first staircase.

Seriously though it goes into great details on layout for the most elaborate to the simplest stair.
