Looking for metric tape measure

I am trying to convert 100% to metric, at least within my garage, and I need a metric tape measure.  I have a Festool folding rule, which I like very much, but there are times when a tape measure is more convenient.  I have looked at the Festool tape measure, but I am thinking I need something a little more rugged, and I prefer something in the 16 foot,  oops, 5 meter range.  I found this and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it:  http://www.starrett.com/saws/product-detail/Jobsite-and-Shop-Tools/Hand-Tools/Tape-Rulers/Measuring-Tapes/KTXP106-5M-N

In the effort to at least have a metric in the toolkit I picked up a metric/standard tape from FastCap and have been pleased thus far with the quality, they have an all metric as well in 5M https://www.fastcap.com/estore/pc/ProCarpenter-PMS-12--12p112.htm They are available at Woodcraft also if you happen to have one nearby.

Look for the following brands:
Lufkin, Stanley, Sola, Fisco, Stabila and Fastcap.
You'll probably find a suited model among these brands.
BTW. Fisco, and Sola share the same models.

I personally advice the Hultafors Talmeter 6m model, but maybe it's NAINA.
It has some really nice features, from which the steel pen under the tape is the nicest.
You don't have to use a pencil any more. Just lock the tape measure and press or scratch the pen to the object underneath.

I use the Fastcap tapes. The True32 version has metric both sides:

They also have one with metric/imperial but the metric always seems to be on the wrong side for whatever I am measuring...

Fastcap also has a flat version which I really like.  Still, there are times where the rigidity of a C shaped tape is desired.  So get both!    I only got this one recently, so no long term feedback.  No experience with the Starrett, either.  

There are many that offer both imperial and metric markings on the same tape.  Personally, I don't like them.  I'd rather have two different tape measures, however I'm at home when I'm using them, so it's easy enough to reach for the one I need at any given moment.  If that wasn't the case, I'd want both in one.  Interestingly enough, 2 weeks ago I turned my [imperial] Kobalt tape upside down...whoah!!!...metric markings!!  Somehow, in the 2+ years I've had that tape, I never looked on the backside!  Doh!

I have the Fastcap and the Stanley metric/imperial, but I always seem to reach for the Festool tape measure. I like the weight...it's easy to keep in my pocket. The scale is easy to read.

Thanks for the replies.  I found a Talmeter 3M tape on ebay with free shipping to USA, so I purchased one of those.  3 meters should be good enough for woodworking and hopefully it's nice and compact.

True Value sells a US/metric tape. I forget the brand name, but quality is fine and you can get it today.

The Fastcap has a built-in pencil sharpener, which I find very convenient.  It's a solid tool.  I particularly like its action: you push the button to retract it.  I got one at Wood World in Chicago that's a combo metric-imperial, and it's now my go-to tape.  Thanks Lulie!

In the workshop I generally use flat metric rulers. On site I have 3 identical brand, model, batch 8m tape measures. One inside, one outside where cutting and one in the ute. I don't carry tools- I don't like it. By having the same tapes I get consistent measures/cuts.
I don't ever mix and match rulers and tapes because they 'can' differ- very slightly, but enough.
The point: whatever you use to start the project- use the same to finish the project. Saves frustration.

Lee Valley has metric tapes, straight metric or metric /imperial. I prefer tapes that are one system only so always have both. I wish L.V. had a small metric, like 3 meter, similar to their left to right bench tape.

Nearly finished an owner build. In four years, went through two Stanley tapes in two years, then purchased a
Lufkin which I still use.

Also do not purchase a imperial/metric tape, you will only confuse yourself!
