Hi , just wanting to know your opinions on hardwood suppliers in the UK and more to the fact london/Herts area as I would prefer to collect in person.

Thank you Andrew. Not too far away the prices are reasonable too and a good range.  Cheers

If you want to try in the opposite direction I have used A C Timber on the outskirts of Ely in Cambridgeshire for some years and am very happy with them

Brooks Bros might be worth a chat with, most of the workshops I have worked with use them and the quality has always been good.

I'm down in deepest Cornwall, so I don't have first hand experience of anyone your way, but a good friend of mine uses Surrey Timber, and he speaks highly of them.

I hope this helps.

Eye candy!!!  No sense drooling too much over planks that are across the pond, but I would definitely be visiting this place if I were anywhere in the UK.  It's hard to find any good pieces of olive in NA, and here are slabs of it!

I use to go to Patrick Bros near Wisbech. They own a demo company and sell salvage wood of various species. I paid 70 quid for a 8 inch x 8" x 8 ft long piece of old oak from a post and beam demo. They ripped it to 30mm thick on their band saw and I finished the wood.  Awesome tight grain as its old , they had some in from France the last time I was there and a butt load of Pirana Pine 1 1/4" X roughly 12" various lengths. I used to have them cut me 8 ft lengths. They had a stack of what looked like 20 mm Luan Ply they were selling for 16 quid. They had pine, beech etc.

Like I said itdepends on what you want
