Looks like the AGC 18 Angle Grinder has been dropped from the US Catalog

My friend has one but hasn't used it much since he got it. He tells me that it's not much different than the DeWalt and Hercules grinders he also uses. Any thoughts? I had thought about getting one but I'm also unclear on what superiority the AGC brings over both the DeWalt corded and 20v I already have.

Basically it brings the same things as most Festool products - it feels more refined than a DᴇWALT with less vibration transmitted to your hand. I couldn't say whether it feels better or worse than a Fein.

Festool's keyless flange nut is quite nice as well.

For me, the fact that it used Festool batteries and came in a Systainer³ SYS 3 M 187 made it well worth the choice.

As mentioned, they are smoother and quieter than the Milwaukee I also own. If you use an RA grinder frequently the difference is obvious. Today I'll be using one to cut 4" round steel ducting for a dryer.

It was mentioned about 6 months ago on the FOG that the AGC 18 was no longer going to be offered in the US. I closely watched Festool Recon and when one was offered I purchased another. One is used for cutting and the other is used for grinding. They each have their own Systainer which contains the consumables they each use.

It is a nice grinder. Similar to Fein. Only complaint is it is a power hog and burns through batteries quickly. You need 4 to run all day since the take longer to charge. A higher amp battery would help. I would grab one of one the fence.

I had my suspicious. Every once in a while I get the urge to get one, most recently a few days ago, and had trouble finding them. I do have the Fein which is super smooth so I’d be okay without it, but I rarely mind adding to the green collection.

I have one, its a nice machine.
Solid, quiet for a grinder.

Seems Festool is getting rid of the tools I like and keeping a small line.
That won't end well unless they share a battery platform with a popular brand.

The AGC 18 grinder is the only tool I am aware of Festool discontinuing, at least in the US.

In the mean time many of us are (im)patiently awaiting at least an announcement about a US release of the new HKC 55 KEB saw.
