My new Clearvue cv1800 arrived, and I picked up a fiber drum to collect all the saw dust... The metal lid is held securely, but still swivels and this does not seem air tight. Is this common? Do I need to add weatherstripping to seal it?

Thanks guys!

Yes, the drum must be sealed otherwise the chips do not drop properly and end up in the filter. At least that's been my experience on my Oneida and it's no fun getting them out!

The lid on the collection drum should be sealed completely as should all other parts of the system, including any ductwork. It might not be possible to seal all the joints on the ductwork so no air escapes, but the effort should be made using either duct tape, the shiny silver tape that can be used on to seal duct joints, or caulking with silicone caulk.
