It’s not a 'Good Friday' for our family. Today we had to put down Kyza, our 14 year old White German Shepherd.
She had suffered from health issues for some time. Even in her advanced age she struggled to make up for it. She was still incredibly sharp mentally, but her rear end betrayed her as it often does German Shepherds. We didn’t want her to suffer, so we did the humane thing.
She got to go for one last ride with us - to the Vet, who came out and euthanized her while she laid in Mommy’s arms in the back of the truck.
She lived a good life. And I know it was the right decision - and the right thing to do FOR her - but it was quite possibly the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I’m really struggling with the grief. I can barely see to type this through the tears...
I am grateful that my wife and I were both able to be with her at the end, as she lived her entire life devoted to us. She was a wonderful dog and will be greatly missed. Rest in piece, sweet girl.
