Lower standards for Festool dealers?

I saw a sales flier for the new TXS drill available from Wurth/Baer Supply in Bethlehem, PA.  Isn't this like "Larry's Discount Auto" selling a new Lexus?  The Wurth Group is certainly a big company but they have a reputation for customer service that is somewhere short of non-existent.  I would feel more comfortable with Home Depot or Lowes as a Festool dealer.  At least they have people who know what a drill is.  Why not Walmart?  They might not have much of a knowledge base in their staff but at least they do have customer service.

There is a Woodcraft store a few miles away in Allentown.  They have knowledgeable staff and offer free classes on various woodworking topics.  It is a shame they have to compete with the likes of Wurth.

Never heard of them, must be a regional or local thing. You can always check with Festool USA to see if they are an authorized dealer. Since you have a strong opinion about them already, its a good thing you have alternatives...

Wurth is a huge German multinational, which sells all kinds of building supplies, though connectors in all shapes and sizes are their core business. They mostly work through affilliates and offices, and most stuff they sell is just rebranded. I don't know how their customer service is because I never had to use it. I have a large 230mm grinder from them, which is a rebranded Fein and still works fine.

I only know they always work with quality brands, but their physical presence is lacking. If this does not appeal to you, buy somewhere else, plenty of options.

I don't think you can call a webshop as "lowering standards" by Festool. Webshops are a normal thing these days.

As Alex wrote Wurth is a huge firm.  Quite a few years ago they acquired several smaller regional chains.  In my area they acquired the primary cabinet material supplier in the area that was a small regional chain.  They have carried Festool for several years.  Although they are a dealer the local store does not have any Festool product as far as I know and anything ordered needs to come from their regional warehouse.  It appears that at least here in my area that the line is offered as a convenience for cabinet shops with items added to orders for materials, hardware, and other supplies.

The location near me offers great service but I have never ordered Festool thru them.

In my area Wurth bought out Baer Supply Co. They are only a wholesale dealer here.
I get most of my cabinet supplies from them. I have not had any customer service issues with them.
I have not purchased any Festool from them.
