I was going to pick a LR-32 plate and the end stops today but did not because the plate had no mounting holes for attachment to the OF1400. I did see on Brice's How To on the LR32 that his plate has the mounting holes.
what's up with that?
I need the LR32 but will have to figure something else out if I cant mount it to the 1400.

Hi Eiji,

I think the Hole drilling Set (guide plate, centering mandrel, linear stops & two edge guides) # 583 290 @ $178 is what you are looking for the 1400.

If you are just looking for the base plate for the 1400 then it's #494 340 @ $90

Thanks Jim,

So what I saw today was the guide plate for the 1010? I thought they would be the same.

Jim,
The part # for the guide plates listed for the 1010 and the 1400 are the same and there are no mounting holes in the plate.
I dont get it.

from the Festool web site FAQ page:

"All guide plates will work with the
OF1010 router. If you are using the OF1400 router, the guide plate needs 2 additional holes
since the OF1400 gets attached to the plate with 2 screws. If you can't attach your OF1400
router to the guide plate, please call 1-888-337-8600 and we will send you the correct guide
plate free of charge (item # is 494 340)."

Eiji,

When I bought mine for the 1400 last year, I specified which router -- I think there are two different plates.

I would suggest call Festool.

I own a 1400 router.  I bought my Hole Drilling Set in Ohio in the Fall of 2007.  Mine is identical to what Brice described.  It definitely has mounting holes and screws for mounting the 1400 router without any fuss.  It also came with the hardware to mount a 1010 router (which I do not own).  Maybe some dealers have older stock that was designed only to work with one of these routers.  I believe the hole drilling Guide Plate and entire LR 32 hole drilling system was originally designed to be used with 1000 and 1010 series routers - the 1400 router was added to the Festool product line much more recently than those smaller routers.

I had the same issue when I got my plate and called Festool.  The more recent ones were drilled for the 1400 and also would fit the 1010.  I had both routers, but wanted to be able to use the 1400 if I chose.  I eventually realized the 1010 was better suited, even though it is a bit more finicky to get setup on the plate.  They exchanged mine for no cost for the plate that handles both.

Eiji,

You're welcome to borrow my 1010 if you need it right away. There was a Festool demo day @ TH&H yesterday. Did you go?

All is well. I guess the dealer had an old plate. festool drills all the plates now.

Fred, thanks for this.  I use mine with an OF1400 utilizing some home made spacers which allow the 1400 to fit, albeit backwards.  I'm going to give that number a call and see if I can get mine exchanged.
