LR 32 Guide Plate Enhancement

One thing I noticed when I went to setup my new hole drilling set a couple of weeks ago was that once I had made the adjustments to make it fit snug on the guiderail, it didn't slide along the track as smoothly as I would have liked.  It seemed like it was either not tight enough or too tight.  I happened to have some Slick Saw material laying around for my circular saw, so I decided to sacrifice a piece of that for my LR 32 base plate.  I took a piece of Slick Saw that was about 1" wide and long enough to span the base plate, and I wrapped it around the corner on the underside of the plate where it rides on the guide rail.

Sorry for the ASCII sketch, but the corner I wrapped is the one on the left underside.  I did this BEFORE I setup my edge stops and before I tightened the plastic guide tension deals.

Anyway, once it was done I found the LR 32 base plate slide along the rail MUCH better than without.  The Slick Saw material doesn't last forever it seems, but you can buy sheets of it for not a lot of money (particularly relative to what we spend on Festool!  ;D).  TOOLS-PLUS.com is a good source if you're interested.  For example, this piece (http://www.tools-plus.com/slick-saw-00126.html) is 5"x40" and would yield 25 1"X8" strips for your LR 32 base plate.

Enjoy!
