Well, it's that time again.  Any clue when the new end stops will make it to the States?  I'm getting ready to buy another LR32 rail and I would like to get the new stops so I can connect 2 rails.  TIA

The question was asked in the class today. They still do not have an answer.

Tom

why dont you buy the long rail with the holes, 95"  that is the one I have and it really works great especially doing long bookcase sides, most of the units I build have a 60" to 80" side and I just lay it down and go at it.;  I also start about 8-12" up and down and then only drill out every other hole.

They just two little metal tabs with bumps on them.

C'mon, get 'em over the ocean and into our money-wielding hands!!!    [eek]

I am also waiting for the real connectors as I have two of the new FS 1400/2-LR32 rails.

In the meantime, you can use the end stops to index the two rails into the correct position prior to tightening the rail connectors.
Use the existing pin and the threaded thumb screw hole spaced 32mm apart from the pin.

The pin measures 6.00mm dia.
The threaded thumb screw is 5.80mm dia (outside dia of threads) so it will be within 0.20mm of the pin

Center the thumb screw in the hole in the rail and you should be close.
Measure across the rails from hole edge to hole edge to get a final fit (remember the holes are oblong and almost have a flat) and tighten the thumb screw and then the rail connectors (keeping the two rail pieces straight).

Edit-
Here is the info on the real LR32 rail connector / stopper  LA-LR 32 FS  496938

These are available on the Festool UK website and so from dealers in the UK. They will weigh next to nothing so shipping from UK would be cheap and you would have a 17.5% discount as you would not pay VAT.

This may be a "dumb" question but is there any reason why the US dealers like Bob cant by these accessories in from the EU?

I understand the issue with electrical equipment and UL approval but this is just a bit of aluminium!! ??? ???

Festool have put their dealer under embargo. They are not allowed to sell outside their country.

If as fellow FOG members we across the pond offerred to help our colleagues in NAIA land, I dont suppose Festool would have any objection.  [unsure]

Now we're talking!  Nothing is stopping one of our European friends from selling us a few of these stops.  Is anyone in the States making a trip out to Europe for the summer?  I'm sure they don't weigh a lot and I'm sure you can quickly make up the money spent on bringing back another bag.

If someone wants to cordinate it at your end, I can work out the price and postage, if you are ok with it, you guys do a Paypal transfer and hey presto, the kits on its way.

The only downside is, I will be purchasing as a UK resident and so the VAT is payable, (17.5%). Perhaps an email to Axminster Power Tool Centre, (they export all over the world) to see if they are allowed to send this item to NAIA land and you could save the VAT.

If they can't let me know and I will see what I can get by way of price and postage.

Regards

I PM'd Guy and we agreed that having a statewide "funnel" would probably work out the best for the most people.  I'm willing to front the purchase and ship LR guide stops to folks from Wisconsin (removed as it sounded like only to people from/in Wisconsin.  I can ship anywhere US).  Based on the size and assumed weight, it looks like they'd ship pretty darn cheap within the US.  Couple of bucks.. $4.95 flat rate box at the absolute most.  However, this is a mildly informed estimate as I can't find any specs on the stops (length/weight).

Guy has sourced them for 16.26GBP (incl VAT) per set (2pcs), which currently converts to $25.06 US.  Shipping overseas costs for them...  Plus US shipping...
So, figure approximately $30-$35 for a set (2pcs).  I am not looking to make any kind of profit on this, so actual costs will come into play and everyone will pay only what it costs.  Based on a sample comparison of current accessory prices GBP vs. USD, this is likely close to what they'll be when they hit our shores.

Here is the LR32 guide stop:  http://www.festool.co.uk/products/accessories/pages/detail.aspx?pid=496938&name=hole-drilling-system-la-lr-32-fs
Used to connect two LR32 guide rails and keep the 32mm spacing.

So, this is now a "poll" of sorts.  Who wants some LR32 guide stops?

It seems that 2kg is some sort of shipping cost threshold, where the price goes up astronomically.  So, 2kg worth of LR32 stops is the limit.   [blink]
We don't know how many that'll be, but I'll take requests in order received.

If you post here, in this thread (it will be easier to get a consolidated list, rather than poring through PMs), that you want them, I am going on two assumptions (since I'm fronting over $25 a pop):
1) You are committing to purchasing them.
2) You are **commmitting** to purchasing them.

For the sake of expedience, let's set a deadline of Sunday, July 25th.  If you post by then we'll put together an order (I'll count the orders Monday morning, Wisconsin CDT) and inform Guy.  Following that I'll contact everyone regarding shipping info and final costs, etc.
If you change your mind, please Modify your post and remove your "order" prior to end of day July 25th.

Cheers,

Count me in!!!!   ;D

Will PayPal work?

Yes, PayPal preferred.  Easiest to expedite and keep track of.  But, for members without PayPal, I'm willing to accept a USPS money order or personal check.

We'll figure out payment specific details once this gets rolling after next week.

I'm definitely surprised there hasn't been more discussions about the end stops.  I guess no one plans on making floor to ceiling built-in shelves.  I don't think the 2424 rail is worth it if you use the end stops.

Kinda of surprised also.

I am going to be using them for 7 ft cabinets.

I am fairly new to Festool and did not own any at the first of the year.
I live about 40 miles from FestoolUSA in Lebanon so I was able to go to the cabinet class in February and use the different size rails.

After cutting the 8ft sheet goods with the 3000 rail and parallel guides, and with Festool coming out with the 1400 LR32 rails for a few cents more than the non-holey 1400 rails, I decided to get 2 1400 LR32 rails (one 1400 LR32 rail with the TS55 instead of the normal 1400 rail and an additional 1400 LR32 rail) and a 3000 rail.  The 2424 LR32 was too short for cutting the 8ft sheets. So it was a simple decision for me since I did not own any rails at that time and this was the least expense approach.

I don't know how many people know about the new end stops since they are not in the catalogs which may contribute to the low interest.

Given the very limited interest (and none in the last 3-4 days), I am going to call this closed and place the order today.
